Default I need your input. When you think of Diff'rent Strokes, you think of...?

This kind of bothered me. I was looking up old shows on Wikipedia and was looking for African-American shows. I saw Diff'rent Strokes and the first thing I thought about was when Arnold and Kimberly were picked up by a guy who turns out to be a pedophile and a pervert. So, I click on Diff'rent Strokes on Wikipedia and click on the "Very Special Episodes" section. Not only did I see the episode with Arnold and Kimberly get picked up by a pedophile but there's an episode where Arnold and Dudley almost get raped by a pedophile and a pervert.

So, let me ask, am I a bad person for thinking the first thought of Diff'rent Strokes was of Arnold and Kimberly almost raped by a pedophile and a pervert? Also, am I a bad person for clicking on the "Very Special Episodes" section and seeing the episode where Arnold and Kimberly get picked up by a pedophile and a pervert and an episode where Arnold and Dudley almost get raped by a pedophile and a pervert?

Btw, am I a bad person for waiting about 20-25 mins. to delete Diff'rent Strokes on Wikipedia from my browsing history?

No, of course not.

You are, however, a bad person for rooting for the Mets.

When I think of Diff'rent Strokes, the first thing that comes to mind is the Diff'rent Strokes curse, and how each of the young stars ended up in trouble with the law, doing drugs, suing parents, holding up video stores, doing porn, becoming persona non grata in Hollywood, and eventually tragically dying early.

It's so the opposite of what happened on The Facts of Life, which was taped just feet away at the same studio (Metromedia Square), with many crossover episodes between the two shows.

When Felice does interviews, she's kind of salty or sassy about how Dana Plato was regarded as "wholesome" and "All-American" by NBC execs. Clearly, they misjudged. But then, of course, those execs couldn't even count to seven.

First thing I think of is Gary Coleman and his catch phrase. Second is how cheesy and lame the show is. I’ve given it several chances, watched various episodes from every season, but it just doesn’t do it for me.

It was a show of that period, whether it was everything that it should have been, who knows. However it was great to watch for many.

Those are episodes I dont watch because of the topic. Especially the Bicyclist episode. When I see them scheduled I skip past them

Based on what I bolded above, does that make me a bad person?

Haha! Nope. Whenever I think of the later seasons of Little House on the Prairie, I think of how that once-family-friendly show jumped the shark when they had a mime rape Sylvia. Yes, that episode actually happened. Then Sylvia died. There are no words to describe how horrifying this episode was. It cannot be unseen. It was so awful it kept the Television Without Pity forums going for years. People could not believe that such an episode existed.

Sylvia climbed up a ladder to nowhere, trying to escape the mime. She fell off the top, and then stated the immortal line (to Albert): “Kith me, my wub.”

And thus an entire generation of children were scarred for life: now forever terrified of both mimes and lisps.

When I hear mention of the show I think of Arnold's catchphrase and the "special episodes" already mentioned. Personally for me I prefer seasons 5 to 8 as the look of the penthouse felt more like it entered the 1980's.
