Default More Season 4 Confusion

This is my first post in ten years. Where does the time go?

Watching this series recently after a very long break, I picked up on something odd. It's common knowledge that season 4 was originally a shorter season, and was later extended by adding the Tori episodes. However, I now realize that only 10 of the season's episodes were newly-filmed with the original cast and 2 of them were clip shows. There were also 4 never-before-seen older episodes and one additional clip show which featured Jessie and Kelly in flashbacks only.

So, the original plan only included 8 truly new episodes and 2 clip shows? What kind of TV season is that?

^^^ I don't know why seasons are sometimes like that. Perfect Strangers has only six in its first season and six in its final season. The final season of the Reba sitcom only had 13. All that we can do is appreciate whatever is put out there. This girl here most definitely does.

God bless you always!!!

This show was a mess considering what the network wanted and it shows with lots of continuity issues.

I don't blame Thiessen and Berkley leaving the show.

Good observations! Yes, this show was a continuity trainwreck, with episodes aired out of order, episodes airing three seasons after taping, and deliberately planned short seasons because everyone constantly thought the show was being cancelled. I suspect Peter Engel wanted to save some money on the budget, so he planned a lot of clip shows.

In Dustin Diamond's expose, he stated that that fourth season was "a mess". That's probably the only part of his book with any truth to it.

(Incidentally, the Ellen sitcom also had two episodes aired years after taping, as did Family Ties. I was so confused when I saw these out-of-sequence episodes on first airing).

I think the worst part was that Kelly and Jessie's absence was never explained in-show during the Tori episodes. They were just gone.

I'm a stickler for continuity but I don't mind the Tori episodes. It would have been nice if Kelly and Jessie were mentioned and have to explain there absents. I don't know why season 4 is considered a mess. I thought it was good.

Besides cannot stand both Dustin and Screech:

Both Tiffani and Elizabeth also couldn’t stand Sam Bobrick because, not only Bobrick was badly abused and lured into antisemitic dark side, Bobrick’s permanent connection is with only that Screech Powers character.

Not matter fake or real that book of Dustin wrote, it shouldn’t have that info on both Tiffani and Elizabeth at all. That book made a right move on Mark, Mario, Lark and Dennis infos, but that book is missing the important info on Bobrick, legal or not.

Both Tiffani and Elizabeth commiting to other projects in a hurry was a safe right move in order not to get connected with the new class episodes. Now both of them are the only original anti castmembers to have safer both marriages and families in each of their own real lives without separation incidents, tbh, IMO.

The reason Perfect Strangers only had six episodes in its final season was, the network cancelled the show after they'd already begun filming the next season.
