Default The "Honeymoon's Over Episode"

It really bothered me that Mr. Drummond and Maggie forced Arnold to miss the party he was looking forward to to babysit Sam. His Girlfriend was only in town for a short while and he really was looking forward to seeing her. Willis could have taken Sam to the basketball game with him. This only added to the already tense relationship between Arnold and Sam & Maggie

The scene could have been written like this:

Maggie: I Think we should allow Arnold to go to the party.
Phil: Why, he took advantage of Sam while we were away. He needs to be taught a lesson:
Maggie: Well, I know this adjustment to the new family has been rough on him. I think we need to let him go.
Phil: Ok if you say so, Willis can take Sam to his basketball game
** Later on **
Phil: Arnold, I talked it over with Maggie and she convinced me to let you go to your party tonight.
Arnold: Gee, thanks Dad I owe you one.
Phil: Don't thank me, thank Maggie. She is the one who convinced me to let you go.

This would have helped smooth over the strained Arnold/Maggie relationship and brought them to the road of family bliss sooner.

Let me know if this would have made a better episode.

Do you think I wrote a better episode scene. Let me know why or why not?

I like it. It would have smoothed things over with Maggie and Arnold.

I liked the improved dialogue but how would you end the episode?

Well, first off, I would have re-titled the episode "Arnold's True Love". I would have shot the episode at the party focusing on the first true love of Angela and Arnold. Than I would have cast Angela as Arnold's steady girlfriend.
