I've noticed that too it seems that there are a lot of FOL fans and I am wondering why they like the show so much. I've seen a few episodes and didn't see the big deal about it...I'll have to catch some more to see what I think of it now.

It's not the greatest show of all-time.I personally enjoy the Bev episodes to the Mrs.Garret episodes though.

I've noticed too how many people love The Facts of Life and I also don't know why. I always found it kind of preachy, like trying to teach the audience a lesson. I grew up in the 80's and I don't remember it being that popular then (but maybe I'm wrong) and I'm confused as to why it's so popular now.

I may be way off base here but I think a lot of teenage girls watch it and it covers things that teenage girls go through. I personally like it.

I don't think it was very popular. It never even made the top 20.

From past experience, I too have learned that so many people like The Facts of Life and are very defensive about the show. In a way it surprises me because so many people like it, but yet it wasn't all that great to begin with (but that's my opinion). I don't understand why boys would wanna watch the show since the main characters were girls going through their own gender issues. I don't see how it would attract boys to the show.

I have a Theory that this message board was a Facts of Life fan board before it became Sitcoms Online; that would explain the number of hits it gets.

I mean The Facts of Life Board gets over 20,000 Messages and the next nearest board on here might have 1000 if at that. And yet, as somebody has mentioned, Facts of Life was Never in the Top 20.

To me, I consider it one of those cult classics like The Brady Bunch or:

Brady Grid

--------------------------

--------------------------

--------------------------

Which indeed is:

Righteous To The Marrow That Is Bones!

Amen.

Can she do it? Can Gloria Stivic have her baby? Will the Dingbat do something funny? Yes she will.

Gotta run.

Can you all really say the show never made it to the top 20? So what, it was still popular, and it will always be popular. A few of you don't like the show, we get that, but all you guys seem to do is bash the show, face it, it's a classic that will not be going away. I love "Will & Grace" and I find it absolutely hilarious, but I will never, and can never, compare it The Facts of Life. Some shows are not for everybody, but what are your REAL reasons for not liking this show? It was a bit preachy, but that's what the show was about, girls learning "the facts of life." It was different, which is what made it popular, NBC obviously felt it was a good show, or they wouldn't have kept it on for 8 or 9 years.

Again, this is not a show for everybody, and I don't know why I like it, but I do, it's funny, and somewhat unique. And I can tell you why guys watch the show, is it NOT that obvious? LMAO. Come on...

Anyway, I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just stating my opinion. It's okay for you guys to NOT like shows, but don't go on about it, FOL has a huge following, accept it and move on. And can you REALLY blame us for being defensive? I try not to get involved in these things, as I can honestly say I hate no show, but FOL is a favorite, I mean, it just is.

Well I'm a 17 year old guy and I love the show. It's just the chemistry between the characters and the whole premise of the show that made it great. If you're scared of the FOL, that's partly because of the Nancy Fanatics. If you think our board is bad, check out the Division board. Now that's a hateful board! But I like it because I can relate to it and the characters are just so real. Espiecially Tootie. She had many serious lines that she could pull of and at her age. I could have never done it. and it's a matter of opinion. Like I don't really like Will and Grace, but you do. it's normal. Different people like different things. rememeber, it takes diff'rent strokes to move the world.

I am a huge fan of The Facts of Life and I like it for many reasons. I feel it is a wonderful show with episodes that deal with so many things teenagers go through. NOT just girl issues... I mean there was no bra episode, no period episode, no When Should I start shaving my legs? episode, and etc. In fact very few episodes seem to be pointed to girls only. Each episode taught a lesson but it was in a more suttle way and didn't involve the slow music, teary eyed hug at the end.. Sure the hug probably happened a few times but not like it was on Full House.. Every fricken episode of that show involved a teary eyed hug at the end!

Another reason I like it, is because of the characters. The girls are the type of friends anyone would want. And Mrs. Garrett is the mother/authority figure anyone would love to have. I never got tired of seeing the characters in an episode and FOL never had a problem with recreating episodes at the end of the series like the earlier episodes except just using a younger kid like many other tv shows do. They kept the show fresh and new up until the end I feel.

Just because a show had poor ratings doesn't mean there is no fan following. I mean look at The Cosby Show. The Cosby Show was number one in ratings for FIVE seasons in a row and how many websites are there about Cosby? I've found about two actual TCS websites.. Whereas FOL has probably atleast 15. How many crazed Cosby fans are there here? Not as many as you would think. Don't get me wrong though, I love TCS I'm just using it as an example of how ratings don't mean everything when it comes to having fans.

NBC must have saw something in this show and saw the many fans it had despite its ratings. They could have easily cancelled FOL by the time it got to the later years because of their excellent ratings with Cosby but NBC kept it. That says something if you ask me.

The Facts of Life may not be a Cosby Show, Family Ties, or Roseanne in ratings but face it this show has a huge cult following and will be around for a LONG time to come.

I personally love the Facts of Life, I am not exactly sure what it was but it is like friends in a sense that once watch one episode you are automatically hooked on the show and enjoy it thoroughly

In a way I believe it is like the 7TH Heaven of the 80's with a different and more realistic spin. Through the show people learned how to deal with things that happen in life, for example when Natalies father died, it was realistic in the sense that she was grieving but she learned and eventually got over it

Another reason why I personally enjoyed the show was because of the chemistry of the characters and the characters themselves. There was a character on the show that I feel people who were watching the show could relate too. Also, the show was full of comedy and I thought the way of the actors and actresses worked together was amazing and it was high quality show

Think what ever you may, but in my opinion this was a high quality show

The show appield to the masses..I think thats why it is popular. Even though it focused on four girls, they didn't have episodes with getting your first bra, etc. It lasted 9 years, which is damn good.

Maybe if Andy would of been introduced into the show earlier, their wouldn't be a stero type as to saying it was a "chicks show".
