I think it was a rental for Super Bowl XII. Back then you could rent big screen TVs for cheap. It might of belonged to Archie though. It's been about 5 years since I've seen the episode.

It was a rental and it was essentially just a projector and a giant screen. It wasn't even rear projection. In the shot where they're all singing the national anthem, you can see the actual projector sitting on the floor.

It was a front projection RBG projector that projected onto a curved screen. The quality was horrible, worse than the contemporary color TV of the day. Bars rented them for special events to bring in crowds advertising them as 'Big Screen TV's'.

Special enough that few people had them in their homes but it was a big draw in bars and casinos.

Im surprised a new episode aired AFTER the SB. Most people are not interested in watching after a big event like that.

Generally true, but AITF & ABP were wildly popular shows.

Not really a flat panel but a projection tv, the screen was like a movie screen and it was insanely expensive. the pix quality wasnt very good and the room had to be dark to see it properly.
