Flo shows up again tonight - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Well antenna tv is starting S1 of Alice again tonight which means Flo returns!!! I liked jolene, but my favorite was flo!!

The first season is markedly better than what follows. This was the only season produced by Ray Allen and Harvey Bullock, vets of “Andy Griffith” “Hogans Heroes” and some other 1960s sitcoms. For the second season, they tried out Chris Hayward from “The Munsters” for a few episodes and then settled on Bob Carroll and Madelyn Davis, writer/producers from Lucille Ball’s various shows, for the remainder of the series. That’s when it started devolving into lots of silly misunderstandings, cheezy guest stars playing themselves, and Linda Lavin doing musical numbers. I’d love to know who pushed for the changes - CBS or Lavin.

Jolene was better than Belle who was nothing but a Flo Clone

My guess is that Lavin herself pushed for most of the changes. I wish the show had been titled Mel’s Diner and been an ensemble cast. In that case, I bet Flo would have stayed for the entire run of the show.
