Default Mother's Day 2010 horror flick

I just watched this for free on Tubi, one of the Roku streaming channels on my smart tv and really loved it.

It's a home invasion suspense/horror starring Rebecca De Mornay as a twisted mother to brutal bank robber children who take a bunch of people hostage while they're having a party in their home.

The suspense starts quickly and kept up right through to the end and there was even some nice gore too. I've never heard of this decade old film before but i'm glad I stumbled onto it.

Has anyone seen it? If not, if you love high suspense and gore this is a great one to see. It's rare that I love a horror so much I want the dvd but this one i'm definitely getting so I can watch again.

I've seen it before. It's pretty rare for a horror movie to be made without me seeing it I think the most disturbing scene in the film is the mother being *SPOILERS* very casual about offering one of the women hostages for her son to sleep with. She is really sick in the head. I was hoping for a sequel with the way the movie ended. Rebecca is really good at playing a sadistic character. She was creepy in The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and gave another superb performance in this one.

It's good. It's a loose remake of the 1980 horror film of the same name, mainly they kept some of the character names and changed pretty much everything else.
Does have Rebecca's mother character talk about Queenie, which was who the mother in the original film always talked about.

When I quoted your post to reply, it showed your spoilers so I cut out the quote. I like how you did that and it's a great way to not spoil people so I tried it below.

SPOILERS---When she offered one of the women for her son was really sick. Especially how she was going to sit there and watch the whole thing. Hell, she even started undoing her son's pants. . The other scene I really found disturbing was with the random girls at the ATM. I loved it and it makes you wonder if you'd do the same in that situation.

The only nitpick I had was that there were times characters did things people wouldn't have done in the same situation. I suspect it was done to extend the movie and to keep it going. I can overlook it here though because it was a fun ride and I wanted it to keep going.

I think Rebecca De Mornay did a great performance throughout it and I haven't seen The Hand That Rocks The Cradle since it's original release so now I want to give that one another look. But this dvd i'm definitely going to buy so I can see it again. I would've loved a sequel but it seems this film didn't get enough attention when it came out to generate a sequel which is a shame.

I have to see that original one now. I know I had to have seen it as a kid because back in the early 80's when video stores were popping up like mushrooms I remember me and my little brother going all the time and picking up all these obscure horror flicks to watch and I know Mothers Day had to be one of them because I remember that creepy box cover of it. But I can recall absolutely nothing about the film itself.
