Default Is Disney Parks going to suspend character meet and greets and autograph sessions?

I heard a story from my mom that once Disney Parks reopen they are suspending character meet and greets and autograph sessions and I want to know if the story is true? This story has interested me since i'm a Disney character autograph collector and i'm surprised because this is an important milestone during every child's Disney vacation and now Disney has taken the joy out of the vacation. Another thing my mom told me is also with this new rule the children cannot give hugs to the characters and the characters can only wave hello to them. This I find weird and you cannot take this important joy away from children because that is the highlight of a Disney vacation. I say if your kids want to meet Disney characters let them do it at home. All you do is buy some Disney plush characters from the Disney Store and get a autograph book from a craft shop and have the plush characters "sign" the kids book and then they will get wonderful autographs and some best friends to hug all the time
What is everyone's view on this topic?

My view - if you go to Disney during a pandemic, you are an idiot. The employees at Disney are complaining through their Union that they are scared to go to work because safety protocols aren't being kept.

You asked. If I was a character actor - I'd hide in the bathroom to avoid people.

I like your suggestion, buy a plush character at home and call it a day.

Disney Parks are planning to replace the character autographs by having children collect baseball card style collector cards with the character's picture on them yet they will still sell autograph books in the parks and I cannot figure why this is being done to children now? I mean the whole point of a Disney vacation is for kids and families to ride the rides see the shows and meeting Disney characters is an iconic memory and now they have taken this happy token of joy away from children. I can bet that people will cancel their Disney vacations because of this new rule that Disney Parks have started with the characters now. And with no place other than the parks to get character autographs people and children have no other option to get autographs these days
If you were Disney what would you do about this new rule?

Who's going to Disney today? I have seen some YouTube videos by some people who went to the Magic Kingdom in Florida when Disney reopened and it looked like a virtual ghost town.

Very unwise to go on a family trip to Disney these days. I doubt that people not being able to meet the Disney characters in-person is the only reason they aren't going to Disney.

I'm sorry, but this is absurd. Disney is taking away joy from children? No, they are trying to remain safe as possible to be able to open at all. You know what would really take joy away from children? Death. The end.

Your child's health is far more important than taking them to Disney World or any resort/theme park destination.

Hi, Bestie! I think it is stupid for Disney to take characters aay from children. If Disney is so afraid, they should stay closed till they can really be Disney again.

One thing I found interesting from the videos by people who have gone there is that the lines for the Splash Mountain gift shop is out the door.

Lots of people want to grab the soon-to-be-discontinued Splash Mountain merchandise.

From what I've read about this is now once the Disney Parks get back to normal they are "though it's not a done deal yet" planning to get people to pay money to get autographs of the Disney characters and give young children the baseball card like photo cards of the characters. This I find very surprising and shocking because as with any Disneyland or Walt Disney World visit the character autographs are supposed to be free with park admission but now that Disney Parks will soon get back to normal they expect people to pay for character autographs from now on? I mean we are on vacation to get our kids to see Walt Disney World/Disneyland and having our kids take photos with the characters and autographs not attending a L.A. Dodgers baseball game. I bet Disney will do this because people think standing in line for characters is becoming an annoying pain
