CAROL A. HINES (nee Sledz), age 83, born May 19, 1937, daughter to Harriet (nee Robak) and Roman Sledz (both deceased), died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Carol was the beloved wife of artist John J. Hines (dec.), stepmother to Celeste Hines and Jay Hines (dec.). Dear sister to Bob Sledz (Ingrid), Ronny Sledz (dec.) and Larry Sledz (dec.). She was a dear aunt to Beverly Allen (Don), Barbara Sledz, Mary Vaughan (Jim), and cousin to many. Carol graduated from Holy Name High School in 1955. She worked at WERE Radio with Bill Randle in the late 50's. She was briefly married to Bill (Himes) and worked as an Assistant Director at the Fred Niles Studio in Chicago and then found her way to California in 1969. She was an Emmy Award winning Producer with a total of 4 nominations. Her work in television and films as a Production Manager and Assistant Director, kept her as a longtime member of the Directors Guild of America. She chose to work on heartwarming family-based themes and comedies throughout her career on sets which included: "Family Ties" "Step-By-Step," "The White Shadow Show," "Hill Street Blues," "WKRP in Cincinnati," and "Lou Grant". She also received director credits for the movies the "Buddy Holly Story" and "3 Women." Carol was a bright spark of love and energy for every crew she was associated with. She was a generous 'ANGEL' to those in need and had a deep belief in spiritual ideals such as those expressed by Divine Mercy. The family is grateful to the staff of The Welsh Home for her nursing care the past six months and Harbor Court Assisted Living for the prior five years. Services will be private. Memorials in Carol's name may be made to: The Divine Mercy Shrine - St. Stanislaus Alumni Fund, 3649 E. 65 St., Cleveland, OH 44105. Arrangements by Golubski Funeral Home, Cleveland. |
