Default Why the Lost Girls never appeared in season 4?

I know Felice was in college by that time but what about the Julies?
And I really really wonder why Charlotte Rae was never seen on the parent show with the girls. Do you have any idea?

I've wondered this as well. Felice was headed to Brown University, apparently, around that time, but she was also filming Zapped. And Julie Pie went to UCLA. Julie Pie was still doing after school specials and an episode of Three's Company in 1983.

Around that time, Julie Anne appeared on a TV series called Boone, where she played an orphan character named Banjo, so she was still working at that time. I haven't seen this series.

Maybe it was their decision. They choose to leave instead of appearing as guest stars 2 or 3 times a season.
And what about Charlotte?

Felice said they offered her to return to Season 4, but she wanted to be a full time University student and with Brown being on the East Coast and filming for FOL on the West Coast, it would be hard fly back and fourth. Don't know why the Julies did not return, but they were never really featured after Season 1. They didn't even get their names mentioned.

Can you tell me where Felice mentions an actual offer for Season 4? I only find confirmation of Seasons 2 and 3, and a mention of her struggling with the workload of going to school while doing FOL.

I think it was because there were too many girls and it became a bit too confusing. They decided to go with just four strong characters. I was supposed to return to do recurring appearances, but at that point, I had decided that I wanted to go to college and dropped acting for a while.
Since Felice was on Seasons 2 and 3 for a few episodes, I think she was talking about Season 4 here.

She doesn't actually mention Season 4, or an offer of Season 4 appearances from the producers. Only the mention of doing recurring appearances (which she did in Seasons 2 and 3), and the facts that she dropped acting for a while. But Zapped premiered in September 1982, which was during the fourth season of FOL, so she was still acting around that time.

It's possible that she was talking about Season 4, of course, but Felice also did an E/R appearance which aired in January 1985, which according to her LinkedIn, was while she was still attending Brown University. So she gave up acting, except when she didn't give up acting, and she "was supposed to do appearances", indicating she didn't do them, but she did them throughout Seasons 2 and 3. Her statement, here, feels weird.

I would definitely have liked to have seen Nancy and Sue Ann graduate alongside Blair and Jo. The girls they got to fill in, as graduation cameos, didn't have the resonance we would have had with Nancy and Sue Ann. We could have had flashbacks including the Lost Girls. And of course, Cindy would have been there, cheering on her besties from the sidelines. THAT would have been a cool way to wrap up Season 4: with the Eastland finale the school and those girls deserved.

It was nice that there were additional appearances by the lost girls, but by season 4 the cast and concept was set in stone, and so there was no reason for them to keep making periodical cameos. Frankly, the fact that they came back for The Little Chill is absolutely unheard of as far as cut character re-appearances in a sitcom, and the fans of those girls should be grateful that even happened.

Haha! As Lorimar says, we're forever grateful. That sort of thing (a character reappearing after being missing for five seasons) almost never happened in the 1980s. It's much, much more common in modern television.

Hmmm.... good question.

There was Cheers, where Diane returned, after a long gap, but that didn't air until 1993.

I can't think of any others... can you?
