1. What was the teacher’s name who introduced Mary Tyler?
2. What did Gilbert and Richard call Mary to Beaver? Beaver said he had to go see this person and the guys joked about it. 3. Mary said she liked Wally like her big sister likes _______. 4. What game were Beaver and Mary playing up in the bedroom? 5. Mary saw Wally playing what sport before she moved to Mayfield. Bonus: What object is near June while she is frosting a cake at the end. It seemed out of place. |

Who was that creep who shamed Beaver for his autobiography, in front of the whole class? Like I said I can't keep all those teachers straight.

Mary Tyler was quite the little operator !
She has the ability to go often from the sweet smile to the demeaning look in just one second. Why did Beaver over ride June's offer for a treat when Beav & Mary 1st entered the kitchen, to Mary's dismay ? and then was it appropriate for Beav & Mary to be upstairs alone in the bedroom on their 1st get together ? Would Mary really have know Wally from high school baseball before she moved to Mayfield ? The casting crew really dressed Mary so to accentuate her new found bosom ! I would guess Mary's older sister was a major influence Mary's behavior (?) Honorable mention: at the end the notes are seen being written in pencil but then shown like a magic marker wrote it ... Would the kids passing the notes not take a peak ? If Mr Collins interepted the note would Beav be in trouble but when June was told by Beav what he wrote her JUne was not happy but accepted it +-

Yes, Mary was new to town. How would she already have seen Wally play? Re wardrobe's choice for Mary's clothes: Yep, and Beaver was attracted! Re the note, yes, Richard probably would have read it. The kids were probably not worried about Collins since he said he was going to a faculty meeting. |

When I watched the episode the fact that Wally & Beaver were alone in their bedroom alone with Mary I found curious. Even with the door open it seems against how Ward & June manage things. I think June would have suggested they talk downstairs where she could peek in or slightly hear their conversation. I think writers having the door open was supposed to quell any concerns. But, I don't think the scenario would fly in a 50s family closely monitored like the Cleavers.

I thought it strange too that June had no problems with Mary and Beaver going to his bedroom to mess around. I think he says that when he and Gilbert were going upstairs but not with Mary. How do you play so many games of Monopoly when one game could last all afternoon and the next day.
You are so right how Mary could go from a sweet smile to that look of utter disgust towards Beaver when he asks if she'd like to listen to his radio. It's so obvious they wanted Mary to shun Beaver. Wally really tried to back out of walking her home and Beaver saw it so why think Wally was moving in on his new love? Beaver really was mean to Wally. I also wondered how Mary knew that Wally was a good baseball player being from another town. I wondered if Mary's sister, who likes Tony Curtis, was in his school. It would have been funny at the end after telling Mary to get lost if Wally came home and was all dreamy eyed because he saw Mary's sister and she was his dream girl. However since he was mean to Mary he didn't stand a chance. |

Mary is still mad at her sister for "stealing" Wally, but June tries to patch that up.
And Beaver is mad at June for trying to patch up his relationship with Mary. Won't she ever learn? First it was Penny and Wally, then it was Wally and his dream girl, now this! Just thought of this: Some of Beaver's friends talk about siblings, but I don't think we ever saw any of them, except Violet's brother. |

Nope, Larry’s sister, Richard’s sister, Whitey’s sister who had twins and Gilbert was an only child but when he became Bates he got an older sister, all no shows. Alan Boothby might have been Evelyn’s brother but we’ll never know.
