I am watching season one where she comes to stay and make Beaver wear the short pants outfit.

I noticed that she came up to the boy's room wearing an apron and her hat. I wonder why she still had her hat on?

Because she was eccentric with a capital C! Her out-of-touch taste in clothing and recipes made it pretty clear she was a little crackers. But June adored her so the guys put up with Aunt Martha’s nuttiness with good humor.

The most touching thing I remember is Ward meeting Beaver with a change of clothing from the RIDICULOUS getup Aunt Martha bought for poor Beaver. What a great dad.

It's funny that she could still buy an outfit like that ? Was it like 1956 or so ? That would have been little boys clothing in like the 1920's or 30's right ?

She had just come back from town buying the suit for Beaver and still had her hat on. She probably started cooking supper, eggplant or some other oddity. I bet they were glad when June came home.

I like Fried Eggplant & Stuffed Peppers - I even grow my own and cook them

now maybe cows brains or Goat Head Soup for dinner is odd - yuk

She probably cooked up beets, too. Maybe kale. Ugh to both! And to the cow brains!

Ever heard of scrapple? A Philadelphia area (if you'll pardon the word) delicacy.

As appetizing as Breaded Calves Brains. A girl in the 5th grade brought in her mother’s recipe when we made a recipe book for Mother’s Day. It was an Australian dish that she said ‘tasted like chicken.’ I still have that recipe book.

On scrapple I love when they talk about "scraps," thus the name, I guess. I can only imagine, but I don't want to!

I'm from Philly and I 'm very familiar with Scrapple ! I ate it before when I was little but wasn't too thrilled about it !!

I grew up in the Phila. area, first in Orland and Ambler, which are suburbs. Then in South Jersey, about 18 miles from Phila.

I miss Tastykakes, Philly cheesesteaks, cinnamon buns, and hard rolls, but NOT scrapple.
