And understandably so. My gut is telling me that they are going to **** it up and I think that most of you all feel the same way. I am going to give them a chance though. It's crazy because this is what we have wanted for years and now that we have it we don't know what to feel.

Nope, not excited at all, but I'm going to give it a shot but I wouldn't be surprised if it sucks.
The original UM set the standard too high, so it's going to be tough to stack up (pun intended) to the original. Robert Stack, the music, the ambiance made UM what it is. But I'm not a fan of modern reboots in general so ignore my skepticism |

I'm excited because the cases they chose to cover are not well known cases, so I'm looking forward to the discussion that will follow on the board. I also like how each episode has a different director, and that there will be no Stack replacement.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll admit that I think it was an odd choice to not have a narrator, but we all know you can't replace Stack so anyone would have had a hard time living up to what he did. I do think there are good people available, but I also understand if the creators didn't want to try.
I also think part of the problem is people were excited for the Farina reboot and that ended up being a huge disaster. The recreated Stack stories with the fake call center and the overly annoying sound and music were poorly done. It will be different but that doesn't mean it will be bad. There is no way they were going to recapture the show from 30+ years ago, but hopefully they capture enough of what made it good to make it a good show. |

The sad part is that there is a simple formula they can follow without the stress of trying to reinvent the wheel or purposely making it seem NOTHING like what UM is supposed to be. As I've said before, do what 'Disappeared' does on ID....
-There is a host who narrates but doesn't need to be seen -Actors give us a visual under the narration and no dialogue is needed -Interviews with family, friends, witnesses, police, etc -Background music that goes with the mood of the scene Boom. It's as simple as that. One of the reasons I instantly liked this show (other than the fact that missing people cases are intriguing) was that episodes felt like a 45 minute Unsolved Mysteries segment. But I am fully prepared to be let down. |

It's not like there's really ever excitement for a show launch before it happens with Netflix. They just rely on word of mouth, social media, and positioning it with prominence and hope it takes off. There was no blitz for Tiger King or Don't F With Cats.

If Unsolved Mysteries were a movie franchise, this would be Unsolved Mysteries Part 5. (NBC=>CBS=>Lifetime=>Spike=>Netflix)
While we may enjoy "Part 5" of any given movie franchise, we never take it seriously, and we would be disappointed if we did. I'm interested in seeing some 21st century cold cases. Likewise, I'm excited for these families and investigators to potentially have fresh perspectives/witnesses on their cases. I'm disappointed that they dug up a supernatural tale...from 1969. The USAF and the Pentagon just publicly confirmed the existence of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. This basically lends some validity to any UFO story over the last seventy years, but 1969? Maybe they will spend an hour on 21st century hypotheses for UFO/UAP, but it feels like a missed opportunity. |

probably because it will be UM in name only
do you really think it will have the mood and atmosphere of the original UM in any way? It will be probably be like one of those shows on ID just with the name Unsolved Mysteries. Not to mention obviously, no Robert Stack (or any host apparently) still at least they are planning to do new stories and cases. Already this is a big step up from the disastrous Farina reboot |

I am hopeful that it will due to the involvement of the production company who also did "Stranger Things". That is the perfect 80's throwback show which captures that era amazingly. I have hope for the new show.

I don't have Netflix and don't plan on getting it just for 1 show! PLus Robert Stack was the star of the show, He just had something that can't be replaced by any who try to take over
