Cleaver Characteristics

Can anyone name the 3 character traits that Ward mentions the boys have that he has too. He just mentioned one in Beaver’s Report Card. He calls these traits the Cleaver blank.

They start with C, M and S.

Good guess. It is modesty.

Ward talks about the Cleaver charm, spunk and modesty but not sure when they’re mentioned.

I seem to vaguely remember that. Maybe then June chimes in and asks, What about the Bronsons?

Bronson skin? She says something about she had a grandfather who was a judge and an uncle who was almost a genius. Martha also spoke of the Bronson legacy.

Madge Kennedy was perfect as Aunt Martha. I imagine many of us had aunt like that--mine was Aunt Harriet (great Aunt, just like Martha was to the boys). Lots of Madges on this show!

I had Aunt Dot but she wasn’t like Aunt Martha she was rather shy and never married. My grandmother was a bit like Martha.

There was a lady everyone called Aunt Dot, who was the aunt of my dad's boss. She cared for my grandmother in her later years, avoiding the need for a nursing home.

Wow she must have been a saint. My mother had to go into a nursing home even though I wanted her home.

My mother was also in one briefly before she died.

I wish I had been more precocious as a child and asked questions of my great Aunt Dot as she lived to be 86. Her sister got a proposal from Clarence Birdseye as a young man. I found out her father had a heart attack right at work as a school principal. She was working in the office and saw it happen. You just never believe older people were ever young.

She was invited to the second inauguration of Teddy Roosevelt as her father graduated in the same class at Harvard. If she were here now I’d say “What are you doing here you’ve been dead for 44 years.” I would ask if her mother and father told her stories. Oh well.

I do miss those stories about the old days, the soldiers' return from overseas for WW2, all the sacrifices they made here in the States, etc.
