The Kennedy Center Honors

I enjoy it every year. But there are those who have passed and have never gotten one. Among them are Jerry Lewis, James Garner, Mickey Rooney and Doris Day. They have been inspirations to may great actors. Jerry Lewis inspire Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey and more. Without James Garner we wouldn't have Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Ted Danson, Tom Selleck and Louis Gosset Jr. Without Mickey Rooney, we wouldn't have Michael Keaton.
Now with the pandemic, I still hope we have those who are long overdue. My picks would be
Gene Hackman: 2 time Oscar winner
Stephen Scwartz: Broadway composer
Charles Strouse: Broadway composer
Sheldon Harnick: Broadway composer
Mick Jagger: Rock and roll legend
Liza Minelli: Legendary singer
I hope they are picked. They deserved them.

The "Kennedy Center Honors" is a private show designed to make money and promote the Kennedy family. There is no great 'honor' to it.

They mainly pick esteemed white liberals and blacks who may be well known in their small circles but are often virtually unknown to the public. There are obvious exceptions.

I enjoy watching the portions that have someone that I am interested in (like Paul McCartney or Paul Simon) but they often ruin their segments by having the same boring nobodies on preaching their standard left wing propaganda.
