Just recently got into Frank's Place - excellent show! I like the storyline, involving a New England professor Frank Parrish (Tim Reid) who inherits a cajun restaurant (from his late father) in New Orleans, Chez Louisiane. It's billed as a comedy/drama, and there is no laugh track - very refreshing for an half-hour '80's show that many (though not me) may consider a pseudo-sitcom.
So far, I've only seen S01, EP02 via streaming- since it's the only episode I can find with half-way decent audio. The PQ is poor since it's obvious this is a VHS rip, but it's better than nothing. And, just based on this one episode - this is definitely a great show. Very well-written, clever, and witty/funny. I like the NO setting, which is known for great music & excellent food, and a unique culture. The focus of the series seems to also be on the "fish out of water" aspect, which I find interesting as well. Unfortunately, for fans of the show there are no apparent plans to put the series on DVD. No surprises here, given the obscurity of FP and - more importantly - the music that would have to be cleared if the series were ever released to physical media. Here's the opening theme, which features the iconic track "Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?!" by Louis Armstrong:' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpig9t0VdEE |

I loved this show and I wish they would put it out on DVD as well.
