Default Head of the Class Season 1 coming to DVD 6/9/2020

HOORAY! According to this report, Head of the Class Season 1 is coming to DVD in just a few weeks from Warner Archive!
(I'm sure the new version of the series coming helped spur this decision.)
I recently watched the whole series on The Roku Channel and have seriously been getting big into the show again. I loved it as a kid in the '80s and I still love it now. It's so great to finally see this coming to DVD!

This is awesome! I'd say I also would like to see them start and finish all of The Hogan Family, but I think we all know how realistic THAT hope is...sadly. Given how they finished Alice, Step by Step, & Perfect Strangers among others, hopefully this one will also be completed.

You're welcome!
I was quite excited to see this myself. You can go ahead and pre-order the DVD set now and see the cover art at Warner Archive's site. The cover art looks great, in my opinion!

Knowing Warner Archive they will probably start and stop this series on and off like they have done with other series. They will probably start releasing a few seasons, take a brief/gigantic pause then release the remainder a couple years down the line. Either that or release season 1 and leave the remainder in limbo for the unforseeable future.

I'm excited but I'm going to wait until I see a few seasons on DVD before I make this purchase. Nothing like owning a season of a show and anxiously awaiting for more seasons to come.

Here's to hoping that all seasons will be released in under a 4 year span of time.

We've got Alice, Family Matters, What I Like About You, Perfect Strangers, Growing Pains, and Step By Step all completed on DVD so here's to Head of The Class.

This is most-welcome news. Manufatured-on-demand is a nice option.

MacLeaper, I also loved it as a kid (I was 11 when it premiered).

Cool! I was a little bit younger when it started (4) but I loved watching it too along with my family. I long remembered Mr. Moore's great one-liner from the pilot as a favourite moment. "My name is Mr. Moore, but you can call me by my first name- Mister."

First of all, I give Warner credit for finally releasing it. Finally. I kept saying several years ago, on this very forum haha, that I expected it that year, then a few years later it was okay it definitely has to be this year. I admit this timing is way WAY off of my best guess for when I thought they’d do it. However, I think a physical DVD release would have made a far bigger splash 15 years ago as another poster said. I just hope for those who would rather have physical releases that Season 1 sells well enough for the other seasons to be released.

Where I’m at with the show finally being released is that I’m definitely going to support it but I’m waiting to see if Warner will, along with the physical DVD release, fly dump the entire series on iTunes. If they fly dump all of it there I’ll just get all of it digitally. They did that suddenly with Growing Pains, Family Matters and Perfect Strangers then did the individual DVD releases. I’m trying to get my shows digitally these days, it’s just easier for me. My physical DVD collection is already obscenely large, I’m not sure literally where I’d have space for any more physical DVDs. DVD releases period are severely slowing down, that format is disappearing fast. If they do this show physical DVD only then I’ll buy it that way. I will say it’s gutsy on Warner’s part to do a physical release in 2020.

^The MOD format removes most of the risk, given that it simply manufactures the discs that are ordered- least I think that's how it works.

Wow, never thought I'd see the day. Guess that puts my work collecting the episodes for nothing haha. But I'd def rather have a complete unedited collection then what I captured. Hopefully they release the rest of the seasons too. Think I'll wait till that happens. After Who's the Boss never releasing any more seasons, that's what I'll do for the future.

When someone gets this, do share thoughts.

I plan on getting this, once some bills get reconciled and such.

No digital release yet, I know iTunes adds stuff at least a few days a week so I've been checking for it!! Hopefully soon. Stuff is usually added by Midnight Pacific on there so I'll check again overnight tonight! When/if it's available digitally I'll post here right away just so folks know they've got that option at that point.

In the meantime, I see the entire series is on the Roku Channel! Looks like Roku has a few different apps, there's a Roku Remote app and a couple of other Roku apps. Which one should I download if I want to watch it on my iPad? I figure it's probably all master copy so I can watch it on there while I wait for the digital release!

Edit- found the app and got it set up, watching the show now! Master copies as I suspected. Only thing I don't like on Roku is I can't make it full screen but this'll do till they get it up on iTunes.
