I'm kind of surprised to see this board isn't very active.

I missed the season 10 reboot when it aired in 2018 and wanted to see it, but after the whole Twitter debacle I figured that season would never see the light of day again, so thanks to Cozi TV for airing it this week!!

Some random observations after seeing the first 4 episodes--

It all felt off and uneven and the pacing was much too fast. I don't watch any modern sitcoms, but if this is what they're like today then yikes! The actors were all tossing out their lines like they were double parked outside the studio...I wish they had slowed it down a bit!

Roseanne didn't seem like Roseanne anymore. It seemed like she was trying to recapture her character and just couldn't quite reconnect with it like she used to. It felt like she was POD Roseanne instead.

Dan was a little better but not by much....Jackie managed to annoy me exactly like she did in the original version so I guess Laurie Metcalf reconnected with her character perfectly. I couldn't stand her then, and can't stand her now...she just doesn't know how to reel it in and learn the art of subtlety.

Darlene I always couldn't stand for her constant apathy for anything but herself and her monotone way of talking. I don't like Sara Gilbert either because I feel she's not a nice person in real life and it shows on her face. You can just see years of bitterness and misery written all over it. Besides that, she's a terrible actress.

Now to the positives...Lecy Goranson impressed me. She's the only one that I was really interested in and who most comfortably slipped back into her character.

Her scene in the Mexican restaurant after finding out she had slim chances of getting pregnant was really good. When Roseanne came in and she started crying and saying "I thought I had more time" about holding off children, I really felt for her. She played that whole scene so well.

I liked Sarah Chalke too. No offense to the others, but she's aged so much better than them and didn't seem like all the life had been sucked out of her. Maybe she's a happy person in real life.

I have no opinions on the kids as they hold no interest to me. All I really wanted to revisit and cared to see were the original characters---DJ was there, but.....just as in the original Roseanne...he was just there with not much to do. I guess when you think about it, he was never really a main character anyway.

I think there's 6 more episodes to watch and I think Bev makes an appearance in one of them? If so i'm looking forward to revisiting that character as she was always a favorite..(until the end when they turned her into an alcoholic lesbian )

I'm happy to finally see it, but it's so far not my cup of tea and I very much prefer Roseanne seasons 1-5 over everything else!

I forgot that Season 10 started to air yesterday, but did remember seeing something about it.

If you missed any episodes last night, they're starting over again on Wednesday night. Since there's only 9 episodes of season 10, they're going to run through them twice.

I watched yesterday, they showed 4 eps. A couple of them I didn't see in the original run! I think I watched maybe 5 of the 9 eps. first run because I forgot it was on, being I really hardly ever watch ABC, NBC or CBS !

All I can say is it was much better with Roseanne , a shame what happened, the Connors just isn't as good ! Maybe the Connors will pick up next season if the focus is on Darlene and Ben and if Becky can marry the Father of her baby and get him here legally ! Focus on the two couples and their kids ( I really like Harris ) , Dan and Jackie are done ! Esp. Jackie, she turned into a ridiculous character! And I love John Goodman as a movie actor , but he really isn't Dan Connor anymore IMO, that character is finished !

Watched episodes 4-8 tonight and saw Bev! Holy cow she was 90 here and looked better than ALL of them! How on earth is that possible?!

The actors half her age looked worn out and like death warmed over yet Estelle Parsons still looked like she did in the original run. I was amazed!

I guess that woman knows how to live lol. It was a joy to see her too and she was funny to boot!

The series still feels uneven and the pacing is too quick for me. I don't like how fast the scenes go and it was a struggle to keep up with the Closed Captions (I need them) because they were all croaking out their lines so damn fast.

There's one more episode left to go and we're already seeing our beloved Rosie addicted to the painkillers for her knee. I even half wondered if this was the plan all along because it just seemed to go with all that came afterwards? I know logically it's not possible, but it eerily felt that way...like they were already setting up for poor Rosie to kick the can.

Anyway, i'm glad I finally got to see these episodes to quench my curiosity (Thanks again Cozi TV ) but I still have zero interest in watching The Conners. It was bad enough to suffer through perpetually scowling Sara Gilbert and overacting Laurie Metcalf....(both are worse here than they ever were) that there's no way I can handle them as main stars of a series. Just no...one's a terrible actress and the other just can't stop hamming it up and chewing the scenery. Ugh! Not for me. Nope.

So the episodes won’t be permanently in the rotation then?

Hmm, that's a good question! Now i'm wondering this too. I assumed it was a one time airing this week, but if Cozi got the rights to that season, then maybe it will show in each rotation.

I just checked the schedule and it looks like that it's only for this week, because it's back to Season 3 starting next week.

Maybe it’s just a sweeps special. I would have assumed they’d retitle them “The Conners” and include them in the syndication package with the other new episodes.

The show just doesn’t have the same sharp writing as it did in the old days. My issue with the original series that it became more mean-spirited as the years went on and producers changed. In it’s peak years, the characters were sassy and sarcastic, but good hearted.

Lecy is the best thing about the revival. Of course, she was also very good in the original series, but the press didn’t give her the same attention as Sara Gilbert for some reason.

Sarah Chalke has grown considerably as an actress since the original series.

Lecy & Sara were the only highlights of the 10th season for me. I enjoyed both of them much more than anyone else. I love Roseanne, but she wasn't able to reconnect with her character anymore. She's old now so I can give her a pass on that. I could see she was relying on cue cards too. At least she gave it a try which is to her credit.

I would watch the Conners only for Lecy and i've read great reviews on her performance since Roseanne's departure, but my dislike for Sara Gilbert keeps me away so I won't tune in. I just can't unless Sara leaves the show.

And Jackie...I don't know what's wrong with that actress, but she pushed Jackie over the edge into self parody territory and ruins every scene she's in.

As for Cozi playing season 10 with the other 9 seasons? It may be possible. I know they're going back to season 3 next week, but they could just have season 10 in the rotation after they finish season 9. If they bought the rights to the show, which was still Roseanne's it makes sense to keep playing it after season 9. I guess we'll have to wait and see?

I must be one of the few people who never saw the original series although read a bit about the series from TV guide. I saw the 10th season after ? 20 years after the original show went off the air as new show. The show is is interesting for me to continue .

I did notice that they’ve been showing the Season 10 promo a lot as well.
