Thumbs up

Yes, I thought Archie was the bomb!! Even
though I didn't agree with everything he did
or said, I found him hilarious!! The person that really bugged me was Mike. I found him
to be a disrespectful, dumb, lazy, hippie liberal who had nothing better to do than
argue and find fault with Archie in his own home when Archie was decent enough to support
the nasty looking MEATHEAD!!

Archie had his good qualities. He believed in God,although he had no regard for any religon different from his.He was a hard worker, and basicly represented the sort of middleclass working man that has always really kept this country going strong.

I also love Archie. He is so much like my grumpy but secretly tender-hearted grandfather!

I agree with Amy that Mike was the REAL slob... he should have been grateful for a roof over his head and have had more respect for his father-in-law. In his own way, Mike is a bigot and very immature. An episode that really shows Mike's true colors is the one (name?) where Archie is out for the evening and Mike, Gloria, Edith, Lionel, and the Lorenzos are playing some kind of "truth" game, where they reveal their true feelings for each other, etc... Mike fails the game badly and acts extremely immature and sensitive. And the episode where his "genius" friend comes over and he wants Gloria to stay in the kitchen because he doesn't think she's smart enough to contribute to the visit... that episode proved to me that Mike was just as much a male chauvanist as Archie, only in a more insidious way... which is worse, in my opinion, than being in-your-face!

I didn't like Mike much either. Although he was in school, he could've at least gotten a part time job. The man was married living with his n-laws. He should have done something to contribute. He was success later as a teacher. Moved to California and then was later arrested in a nuclear protest trying to save a nude beach (because Gloria didn't want to walk alone) and then had a breakdown and joined a commune and took one his pupils because Gloria didn't want to go!
He was a meathead.

Mike was a meathead but he did contribuite sucess to the AITF tv seris as a supporting cast member. Of course after mike,Archie had Murray and Gary to disagree with.
I didnt like how Mike treated Gloria in the end.

I'll be honest, I've got one of those love to hate things for Archie. He was annoying with all those racial remarks but was yet funny. My favorite episodes are when Edith strikes back at Archie. I mean a person can only take so much! My other favorites are when George and Archie but heads.

Archie was a really funny guy. I thought that even though he was sort of a "meathead" himself, he was kind and caring. I didn't like Mike though, he was a slob.
