Seeing the doctor drop by the house to check out a sore throat like in Beaver’s Tonsils does anyone remember the doctor coming to the house in their memory?

Only on TV. Even in the 50s and 60s that NEVER happened for me.
And just like the Brady Bunch, they called the dr. for any sickness. Ooh, a sniffle, sneeze, or scratchy throat--house call! |

Yes, one or twice. I was very young; preschool. This was in mid-60s.

I had the doctor come to the house because I had a fever and was hallucinating. He wasn’t my doctor but he lived across the street and gave me a shot. My mother called him on a Sunday morning cuz she was worried. She was the most wonderful person who I recently lost.

My loss was in 2017 but I can relate.
I remember getting a shot for some emergency situation, a breathing problem probably related to an allergy to cats (which I outgrew). But it was at a dr. office. Later I remember allergy shots on a schedule. Boy did I hate those! Shots were popular back in those days. |

When I was kindergarten age (5) 1961 - on Saturday I was playing in a park and fell off the top of the slide and was knocked out ... My sister put me in her bicycle metal basket in front of her handle bars and half way home I woke up in the basket, I was like a bent up doll. When we got home my mom & dad stuck me in bed and the local doctor came by to check me out . I was a bit banged up but not harm done (other than my long term bad attitude - joking)
I still remember trying to get around the kid who wouldn't slide down, just blocking the top, and as I sorta climbed around him my hand slipped off 1 of the 2 the top metal hoops and down I went directly to the dirt (no sliding) -ouch x 2. Later that year a few of us skipped kindergarten and went swinging on a rope in the woods, we were on a small hill and we'd swing right over some guys garage and back ! When we arrived at school at like 10 am all of us got paddled on the butt until we each cried - then our parents were called and hit us all some more - for real ! |

Assuming today the school would paddle, which it wouldn't, the parents would then sue the school.

Wow falling off the top of a metal slide is every parent’s nightmare. Especially getting knocked out. You could have broken your arm or leg. One time the neighbor across the street told us not to go outside the big fence near the road and I must’ve talked the two younger kids to do that, the mother found us spanked each one of us and I lit out across the street crying I could’ve gotten hit by a car as I never looked.

Wow so many accidents and potential ones!
I remember somehow i got a nail jabbed into my knee, probably hidden in a woodpile. Visit to the dr. office for a tetanus shot. And we climbed way up in trees--what our parents didn't know! |

I was walking on top of a white fence bordering the road the edge was only about 2 inches wide and only 4 feet off the ground but I missed my footing and jackknifed so I as hanging on my stomach. Head on one side legs on the other and it knocked the wind out of me. I could have landed on the other side down in the gully. I didn’t feel too good and you could see where I hurt my leg bone. I didn’t tell anyone.
