Default Howard Stern to George Stephanopoulos: You should succeed Alex Trebek

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...y-host-1294412

During a visit to The Howard Stern Show this morning, the ABC News anchor was asked if he'd like to host Jeopardy!, with Howard Stern pointing out that his name came up while he was discussing Trebek's potential successor. "The first thing I said was 'George Stephanopoulos' and everyone went, 'That ain't crazy,''' said Stern, who's personal friends with Stephanopoulos, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "You've got the intellectual capacity." Stephanopoulos would not say directly if he would take the job if offered. "I think it would be a lot of fun, but I like what I'm doing too," Stephanopoulos said. "I am not going to be Shermanesque about it. It's a great show. It's very flattering. Big shoes to fill." Stern joked that Stephanopoulos was "dancing on Alex Trebek's grave" but said in seriousness he believed the newsman could do both jobs.

NO! Howard Stern is trash, someone who is friends with him not a good idea, a smart show like Jeopardy! should hardly be listening to that loser. It shouldn't be a newscaster moonlighting as a game show host either. Ken Jennings is the most natural choice to replace Alex Trebek whenever he does retire.

I never thought this sort of thing was up for discussion!

When a poster mentioned Howard Stern I wondered if they meant Anna Nicole 's
husband.

I do agree with your choice of Ken Jennings as a possible replacement for Alex Trebek where he does decide to retire but another candidate that should be considered is Mo Rocca. He does a number of reports for CBS's Sunday Morning and emceed the National Geography Bee on PBS.

Well that's a stupid idea. But then once Alex Trebek is gone I'm going to stop watching Jeopardy anyways.

Stephanopoulos could possibly do it smoothly, but I don't like him and wouldn't watch. And I don't see where Jennings has enough personality or likability to do it well. I think it's insane to just hand over any replacement hosting job on a high-profile and long-running game show or talk show anymore. Too often it just doesn't work out. Let them bring in many people for 6 months or so and it will be pretty obvious who does it best and who most want to see get the job. The public has to live with these choices and should have some say in who gets the job.

I thought Drew Carey and Stephen Corbert were great choices and later realized both were terrible in their new jobs. If others were given a chance, probably better choices would have been made that more people would have liked. Craig Ferguson earned his late-night job that way and was a choice most people enjoyed and otherwise would have never gotten it.
