Universal decided to use their contract player, Debbie Watson, whose career they wanted to push. They claimed that Pat Priest was too old. Priest says she cried when she found out about this while she was filming one of the last episodes of the season, and Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis comforted her.

Smile Come To Papa

Granpa bit her neck and Herman tried to pat her back and she went flying into a wall. I wish I could have comforted her.

Wow, I didn’t know that. I’m glad to hear the reason PP wasn’t in the movie. I really like her in the role of Marilyn. I’m glad to know that she wanted to be in the movie. Thanks

OMG !! That is so mean!! I can't believe they did that to her ! Such jerks !! Poor Pat !! So sweet Fred and Al comforted her , but maybe they should have protested and said they wouldn't do the movie either without Pat !

I know he has problems getting rights to movies, but I have seen "Munster Go Home" a ton of times on Svengoolie.

And, I know, he can't film right now, but talking in general.

I really wish he would take a chance and get some creepier movies. It's a family network, I know his hands are tied, but he did run "The Duel".

If he got Hitchcock movies - that would be incredible.

Smile How About Deez?

I'd like to see less of the most well known classics (like this past week's classic Frankenstein) and more off-beat '50's horror movies. Love to see "I Was A Teenage-Frankenstein/Werewolf/Caveman. And the follow up to those "How To Make A Monster", all great fun movies for Sven's wisecracks. Also Amazing Colossal Man/War of Colossal Beast/Cyclops & Invasion of The Saucer Men & The Unearthly. Those are just a few I'd prefer over the obvious classics. Though 2 weeks ago he did show the perfect movie for his show "Attack of The 50 Foot Woman"!

I would love to see more of those '50s offbeat movies on Svengoolie! And, yeah, I've lost track of how many times I've seen Munster Go Home on Svengoolie now -- but I still like seeing it. I thought Attack of the 50 Foot Woman was a nice change of pace, and coming up movies like Gargoyles from 1972 and Dinosaurus! from 1960. Gargoyles has many recognizable TV stars. Also later this year movies like Them and The Thing from Another World!

I liked "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" too.

IMO, it would have made more sense to run "The Bride of Frankenstein" this week than the Munsters.

Over a year has passed since the post, but you're getting your wish at least in one fashion -- "How To Make A Monster" is coming to Svengoolie on June 12th on Me-TV!

War of the Colossal Beast is coming up on Svengoolie September 4th. He said The Amazing Colossal Man is not available, and that I Was a Teenage Werewolf & I Was a Teenage Frankenstein are not available from the distributors and are hard to get but he is trying to get those. And "The Blood of Dracula" is coming up next month as well!

Cool I Like The Cheapies

War of Col. Beast coming up is very good news. Luckily I don't rely on Sven though to get good classic horror movies from the '50's thru EARLY '60's, I rely on DVDs, they never let me down. But I do like the Sven versions for his comments and fun stuff. He recently played House on Haunted Hill, but I didn't bother to record because he was playing the b/w version, if and when I want to watch this movie I would only want to see the colorized version on DVD. So no point getting the Sven one. But he did just play House of Horrors which is commercially available (not colorized) but I recorded it anyway for the Sven's bits.

But all these movies I've mentioned in my last email are either commercially available on DVD or have been on TV, most recently on the OLD SyFi channel, back in the good old days when they'd show classic scary TV shows from the '50's and also classic '50's scary movies like "I Was A Teenage-Frankenstein/Werewolf/Caveman & Amazing Colossal Man/War of Colossal Beast/Cyclops & Invasion of The Saucer Men & others. If SyFi could show them back then why can't Sven? It seems these cheapie '50's movies would be a lot cheaper to run than the, what must be expensive, Universal classics.

I always enjoy Svengoolie's bits, and he ran a very nice remastered print of "House on Haunted Hill". "House of Horrors" isn't a favorite of mine, but it does have its moments I guess. I also don't understand why those movies you mentioned aren't available aside from War of the Colossal Beast (and The Blood of Dracula & Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster, coming later this year apparently according to Sven.) He's also been showing some very fun lesser-shown 1950s titles this years including From Hell It Came, Fiend Without a Face, Earth VS. the Spider, How to Make a Monster, and such. While I completely understand that DVDs for the movies are available (and some for very cheap, too) I still will always enjoy watching Sven's bits and what he has to add to the movie.
