Ok, maybe not cliche's per se but trends in tv and movies which annoy me.
1. Firstly, I'd like to say that I don't find prayers in the media offensive but this trend of holding hands while saying grace is purely Hollywood. What I mean is This all started with The Walton's . The first time I had ever seen that. Well, it seems every movie or tv show started doing that as if it were a normal thing. I have seen several period movies, tv shows where a family does this and this just was not done back in the 19th or early 20th centuries. This just wasn't done. This really bugs me! 2. Why in movies or tv where there is a dance number and the audience applauds when the dancers line up and to "The Rockette's" kick? Every time! What's with that? ![]() ![]() What are your pet peeves which annoy you in the media? Just curious! |

I am currently irritated with radio ads and announcements during the COVID-19 crisis always announcing, "You Got This, Seattle!" with the whole effort by citizens to do their part in social distancing and protection, etc. It's a cliché I hear all the time. "You got this" was popular before, but now it's ubiquitous.
Another related phrase is, "We're All In This Together". And the third one I hear on so many ads, the term "unprecedented", as in, "In these unprecedented times...." It's not that we don't need some sort of connection with others in this time, but overused clichés makes me feel like people aren't really thinking, it's just a hip, trendy gimmick. |

Everyone was a political pundit a few months ago. Now they are infectious disease experts too!

I guess you misunderstood my question. I shouldn't have used the word "media". What I meant was cliches and modern trends used in movies and tv that are not histrorically correct or overused. Got it?

Cool, we have enough threads about the coronavirus, I wish we could stop with that here! Post on the ones we already have but don't make any more ! ![]() A TV cliche that bugs me is " Can I see you in the kitchen" ! A person says to another person living in the house when a visitor comes over and there is a problem! Usually the problem is with the visitor , and the person doesn't realize they are talking about them in the kitchen? , it is so obvious , and most of the time they are talking in normal tone voices,, the person probably could hear realistically!!
