Have gifts for Mother's Day changed?

Every May when Mother's Day comes around the corner I have noticed that Mother's Day gifts have become different in recent years and I want to know why this is? Is it because mothers have almost everything you can think of these days or is it because people are being unique and creative with their Mother's Day gifts today? Because I've noticed people are giving their mothers chocolates candy cakes and gift cards and coupons for restaurants maid service and even spa days and so it tells me that this is the new trend for Mother's Day. It used to be that popular Mother's Day gifts were always perfumes clothing bedding and kitchen appliances like microwaves and toasters that were useful to everyone's mom. And now I think that when I see these new types of Mother's Day gifts today I think Mother's Day has become like Valentine's Day and traditional Mother's Day gifts have gone out of style
