Madderest Just got unfairly accused of shoplifting at Walmart! :/

Just got accused of shoplifting at a Walmart today. I had purchased Messenger Bags and candy at the scan and go self checkout, changed multiple Messenger Bags, (I bought two Messengers Bags to replace my broken ones.) There was a Cashier who saw me changing Messenger Bags and putting the candy into the bags and said I didn't pay for those candies. I showed her my receipt with all of my purchases and she said "Okay." At the door I was approached by Police and Store Employees about my "Stealing." The Store Employees claimed they followed me and saw me stealing. I cussed them out so bad and showed them my receipt. They let me go. I apologized for cussing them out but didn't get an apology for the false Accusation from either the Police Officer or Store Employees. The Police Officer told me in private that "Cussing is not the best way to go about it when you're actually innocent and that the Store Employees were just doing their jobs. "I would think people being falsely accused would be the Perfect Candidates for cussing their Accusers out… and
I used to think that Walmart was such a nice and fun place to shop but now I am having huge second thoughts on it. On a side note, I was thinking about buying third Messenger Bag but decided I didn't need it anymore since the Messenger Bags I bought were sufficient. I specifically thought,"I am going to put this Messenger Bag back on the Rack so that I don't get accused of Shoplifting. " I put it back on the rack and still got accused of Shoplifting…

That sounds like a horrific experience.

My area Walmart began checking everyone's receipts a few years ago. I try to shop more at Target, these days.

When I was a kid, age ~13, on a class field trip to the museum, I was accused of assaulting a very large Black woman in the museum (I was the smallest kid in my grade, which made the accusation especially ridiculous). I was in a line with my classmates when I was pulled out of line by a Black security guard, and forced to apologize for striking a woman I'd never seen before, in my entire life. It was humiliating, and so ridiculous, as if an 80-pound boy could have injured a 300-pound woman. THEN my teacher yelled at me, for "misbehaving".

Janice, let’s hope you’ll never again be shoplifted.

Wow, that's awful. Sorry to hear that happened to you. I wouldn't shop there anymore if that had happened to me.

Walmart gets so many shoplifters that they can sometimes go overboard with their security. I always keep my receipt in my hand when I exit the store and even ask them if they need to see it. Sorry you had such a bad experience there.

I recently went to Walmart and purchased a few items including 2 large cases of water. I had my receipt and as I left they wanted to see it. The reason was because my water wasn't in bags and any item not in one is checked before you can leave. The really stupid thing is that the person checking my receipt saw me paying for the water at the self-checkout.

One time at Goodwill I was browsing through DVDs and I was accused by a security guard of opening up the cases and taking the discs out. I told the security guy that I just took them off the shelves to look at them, but then I put them back without opening the cases.

The security guard insisted he saw me do it and I was like do you want me to take off my clothes because I have nowhere to hide anything (I had no coat nor any bags with me). Another employee came over and checked every DVD on a couple of shelves and saw that none were taken out of the cases.

I remember I stood there with my arms crossed until they admitted nothing was stolen and apologized to me.
