Default NBCLocal

I heard in May that NBC is gonna have a digital sub channel called NBCLX and I was wondering if you had heard about it? I just learned this news this morning and I tried to find more info on it but all it showed was the logo and the words "Coming Soon" Is this a new type of NBC channel and what programming will it carry?

NBCLX debuted today and from what I saw of it so far is mostly shows like RightThisMinute and I wish they had more shows or a full schedule of their lineup. Does anyone have the NBCLX lineup listed?

Seems like a same themed digi as ABC Localish, which normally is dismal, but at least during these trying times, during constant network preemption's for press conferences, at least here in ny/nj metro......In NY ADI at least if lets say "General Hospital" gets preempted, they play it on Localish, I always believed every network channel should have a secondary source for network shows.

In New York NBC uses Cozi during preemption's, CBS here does not have any secondary they use.

For the record Spectrum Cable in Metro NY/NJ is also not carrying the new NBC Local channel that started this thread.

Hey Spectrum/Charter still waiting for Decades to appear on my Cable line-up in NY ADI

I very much disagree with this. Just because something airs on a major broadcast network does not make it superior to what the diginets air and should take over what was scheduled on the diginet. I was irritated last year when my FOX affiliate aired a preseason Colts game on their main FOX station, and moved some lousy golf match scheduled nationwide on FOX to their Antenna TV affiliate, preempting a few hours of the Welcome Back, Kotter marathon I had been looking forward to. Fortunately they haven't pulled a stunt like that again, but other stations that have diginet affiliates are constantly preempting them, when FOX aired more sports last year some of the awful syndicated trash on the main FOX station like Jerry Springer ended up airing on the Antenna TV station. And some stations have simulcast their news or replayed it later on a diginet, we have 24 hour stations for news junkies like that and any station now would post their articles online if viewers missed the newscast. A few weeks ago my dumb ABC station moved the news that had been scheduled to my My Network TV affiliate when a presidential press conference aired on the main ABC station. I had been looking forward to watching Major Crimes then, as I never saw it firstrun and those episodes are new to me. Disgusted when I saw their news had pulled it, I turned that station off as they were not worth watching then. And I have heard some lousy Me TV affiliates air the Trump briefing at 5PM, preempting the great Adam-12 hour. Good entertainment shows should not get the shaft for news, too many negative stories and partisan politics there, we need an outlet for escape.

I will promise not to get into a opinion war and your words are valid so let me clarify.....

I was only writing about the Networks, CBS, ABC, NBC, for example so yes in the number one TV market NYC ADI (Area Of Dominant Influence) If a network program, not syndicated series, When ABC network owned General Hospital gets preempted we can go to the "local" ABC owned Localish to watch it.

I agree with you regarding MeTV, Antenna TV they should never suffer from Network TV preemption's, that must be some type of agreement in rural areas, etc. As for COZI NBC owns that, so yes they have every legal right to preempt. But now with their NEW NBC Local im sure they will use that channel to run preempted Network owned shows like Days Of Our Lives. Again this does not apply to daytime syndicated programs that the local network affiliates run/acquire such as for example "Kelly Clarkson", "Judge Judy" those syndicated shows which networks are required to run can get moved to graveyard shift hours just to keep up with the contracted licensed schedule with the distributor.

OK? Much friendship, and much health to your loved ones.

BTW I do admit that my original sentence should have read "I always believed every network channel should have a same network owned secondary source for their network shows."

Locally in Indy the NBC affiliate will once in awhile pre-empt (for example) Wheel of Fortune and/or Jeopardy. So when that happens, they put those shows over on 13.3, preempting MeTV and MASH. I don't think that's anything to get upset about.

Now if they decided to permanently cover some MeTV shows with infomercials, that's irritating. And they used to cover Cozi TV (when they had it) with Dr. Phil at 7 pm. That's also irritating, since they have it on the main channel at 4 pm and virtually everyone has a way to time-shift shows now. Interestingly, when they ditched Cozi and picked up Dabl, they quit doing that.

I also remember the Fox affiliate used to preempt the This TV schedule for their entire morning newscast. Also irritating--why have it on 2 different channels at the same time?

Our MeTV affiliates do that as well.

New sub-channel, or did it take over an existing diginet?

New sub-channel. It didn't take over any existing diginets.
