(a takeoff on "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" [which I've heard of but neer seen, lol] )
So there are 7 girls when FOL starts, and 7 wonders of the world. I've always enjoyed the 7 wonders of the ancient world in particular, so I'll go with those. Here are the 7 wonders of the ancient world:
How would I match each of the girls to each of the 7 wonders? Hmmm, let's see... The Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt - Tootie The Lighthouse at Alexandria, Egypt - Molly The Statue of Zeus at Olympus, Greece - Blair The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Greece - Cindy The Colossus of Rhodes, Greece - Nancy The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Iraq - Sue Ann The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, Turkey - Natalie The pyramids for Tootie because I always think she looks really Egyptian in "Pretty Babies" at the photo shoot. ![]() The lighthouse for Molly because with her technical prowess you know she'd figure out how everything about it works in no time flat! ![]() The statue of Zeus for Blair because Zeus was the king of the Greek gods and thought he should be worshiped, and Blair sees herself as queen of the Eastland girls and thinks she should be worshiped ![]() The temple of Artemis for Cindy because Artemis was basically the "tomboy" of the Greek goddesses---she was the goddess of the hunt (a historically masculine affair), her divine parents didn't stay married, she was athletic, and she didn't go for long feminine clothing ![]() The Colossus of Rhodes for Nancy because that statue was VERY TALL, and Nancy is the tallest of the girls---"The Colossus of Eastland" ![]() The hanging gardens of Babylon for Sue Ann because she probably grew up "hanging" around all kinds of crops back in Kansas City, Kansas ![]() And the masoleum at Halicarnassus for Natalie because she later developed a deep interest in dead writers and wanted to visit their graves ![]() Wow, so this is what it's like to be on a work stoppage after midnight!

Nice!
I particularly like the connection between the Pyramids of Giza and Tootie! When I was a kid, my cousin gave me a book called "Facts and Figures" which had all sorts of interesting facts, including illustrations of Okapis, Quaggas, and a section on the Seven Wonders. My favorite Wonder was always the Colossus of Rhodes, in part because of America's "New Colossus". |

Definitely something different, huh?

![]() They should digitally insert her into the court of Pharaoh in Cecil B. De Mille's "The Ten Commandments"! ![]() Quote:
![]() Nice! Okapis, quaggas, awesome...I first learned of quaggas from a Childcraft book (if you're familiar with those). And ligers! That was so cool. Quote:
There isn't definitive proof that the hanging gardens definitely existed, but I of course love to think they did. ![]() While the hanging gardens have always been my favorite, I love it that that temple of Artemis is one of them, as after I discovered Greek mythology in 6th grade, Artemis right away became my favorite of all the Greek goddesses.

(I'm not suggesting that, I'm just saying it would be such fun IF it were that way)Cool! I remember being a little weirded out reading about strangler figs! And the poor two dinosaurs that got stuck together and died, with that carnivore's claw caught behind the herbivore's bony shield, their skeletons still stuck to each other when they were discovered---all that danged carnivores fault!Quote:

Yes, I learned so much from those. To this day when I take my nature walks, I notice all the strangler figs there are on those poor other trees, and I'm amazed at how many there are!
