Japanese guitarist Ryo Kawasaki, who lived and worked in Estonia, has died

On Monday, April 13, the Japanese guitarist, composer, programmer, sound engineer, producer and owner of the recording company Ryo Kawasaki, who lived in Estonia, died in the morning. His death was reported by the Estonian Jazz Union.
Ryo Kawasaki was born on February 25, 1947 in Tokyo.

According to Wikipedia , Kawasaki graduated from the Department of Quantum Physics, Japan University, but his profession for life became music, which he began to study at the age of five. In the 60s he played with various jazz groups in Japan, then with jazz bands that he organized. In the early 70s, he moved to New York, where he played in various groups, including groups of Gil Evans, Alvin Jones, Chico Hamilton and Ted Kerson.

In the mid-80s, Kawasaki departed from concert music and switched to the development of computer music production programs, and also acted as a producer of techno-style song recordings and created his own company Satellites Records to record and release.

Since 2000, Kawasaki has lived and worked in Estonia. He wrote the jazz ballet Still Point for the Estonian National Opera. In 2001, he recorded the album "Reval" with leading Estonian musicians - bassist Toivo Unt, drummer Aivar Vasiliev and Krista Keel (English horn).

In 2016, Kawasaki created the band Ryo Kawasaki & Level 8 with Estonian musicians, with which he gave a number of concerts, including in Japan, and also recorded the album "Level 8" (2017).
