I actually started seeing "Big Blue Marble" approximately in the very late 1970s to mid 1980s.
I was older than its intended audience and it must have been completely or mostly in reruns by then, but it was educational and interesting. I recall an episode in which a young girl (I think in Hawaii) was trying to learn a traditional song to sing to her grandmother and had to practice. At the end of the clip the girl sings to her Grandma in a family gathering and the grandma gets up to sing along with the girl to ease her jitters. There is information that I found on the internet about Big Blue Marble episodes ( see link below) but does anyone specifically know the episode number or "name"? I should say that there is a slight chance that I might not recall correctly and the program was not "Biog Blue Marble." I think there was also a segment about a snake called "Nigel." https://web.archive.org/web/20080601...ng/bbmlist.htm |

I do remember those! I love any shows that have to do with nature or the earth. I just find them really interesting.

I remember watching it though being too young to understand it. But I did enjoy it.
There was one episode I remember but couldn't remember where but I did look under the website that was posted and I think they said The Grand Canyon. The 3 or 4 girls were they and one named Jenny got lost and naturally desperate to find her. Finally they did. All throughout the piece there was a song playing called "Everyone Has A Dynamite Day." If by any chance I'm wrong on the location I'm sorry though I could have sworn that was what the website said. Though a syndicated series some PBS stations aired it. I know WTTW Chicago did. |

The Big Blue Marble was actually the debut show of actress Tisha Campbell before she started getting famous in the movie Little Shop Of Horrors and the sitcom Rags To Riches before her signature role in Martin. Tisha was the host of The Big Blue Marble and The Big Blue Marble from what I've read about it was actually a good show that taught kids about science in a manner that kids could understand. PBS should do a revival of The Big Blue Marble because we need better kids shows for older kids to enjoy and learn

BBM was not a science show.
Type it up and I never saw anyone hosting the show. |
