Default What would Margie Peters think of these Felice photos?

The following photos are of Felice off-stage from Facts of Life, nothing to do with the wardrobe on the show. Again the outfits they wore on the show were the signs of the times. That being said, I really hope Felice was at least 18 in the last photo.

Oh Gloria Vanderbilt jeans! Every girl had to have some and I think I either had some or had a knockoff version. Wow that last picture is kind of... well, mature. I hope she was 18 as well. The shorts are okay, because like you said it was the style but her shirt is a little revealing. Nowadays that's no big deal though.

See, that last photo could almost qualify as porn. But the others are just photos of Felice wearing the fashion of the era. Margie's "kiddie porn" comments just feel so wrong.

Here’s what I think she’d say:

Picture 1:

“This is bordering on kiddie porn. What is she doing wearing a scantily clad tennis uniform in the MIDDLE of winter?”

Picture 2:

“Since when did a 17-year-old girl have to bend over like this to sell jeans? Boycott this brand!”

Picture 3:

“I hope she wasn’t dressed up like this when she was at NBC! Wipe off that make-up, get her a bra, a robe and cover her up!”

Hahaha! Margie probably saw these and immediately said "Time we Nancy her for GOOD".

No, Margie calls short shorts "kiddie porn". Apparently, Margie lives in a world where girls are expected to wear burqas and it's winter year round!

She definitely had the Brooke Shields look in several of those photos.

Yes. They were besties, back in the day.

Many people, just like Valentina, noted their similar appearance, back in the day.

No, I don’t think any of these pictures are pornographic or lewd. I was just making fun of Margie and her over-the-top conservative views (hence the quotations that I have in my previous post). I think the point of this topic is just to point out how outrageous her views are in modern times.

Margie just seems like that helicopter mother that gets triggered whenever a teenage bares some skin or wears something you’d consider “revealing.”

Margie was of a different generation. She grew up in the 50s or in a conservative household where any skin above the ankles was considered obscene.

The thing is that I have absolutely NO problem with the change in wardrobe. If the girls were uncomfortable baring so much skin, or the producers wanted the change because they were uncomfortable, that seems reasonable to me.

But Margie's "kiddie porn" comments are just so odd and over the top, as well as her insistence, in multiple interviews, that the girls were wearing short shorts "in the winter". We know the airdates, and unless Margie is talking about airdates in Australia, that simply didn't happen.

The thing is that these girls' characters were based on themselves (with the exception of Blair and Jo). What they wore was a reflection of those characters: Molly never wore revealing clothing, other than her gym clothes. We all saw how conservative Lisa's clothing began to be, in later years, and that was clearly her decision. By the same token, Felice wore very revealing clothing on modeling shoots, as seen in one photo above.

I always thought that LISA dressed as the BLAIR character according to what the writers were telling her to: we all know how many time her character was changed (on the pilot she dressed as 'The dukes of Hazzard', on season 1 she wore skimpy and revealing clothes, on season 2 + 3 she was more sophisticated, and later on rather conservative).

It seemed to me that LISA WHELCHEL is rather trendy and no 'conservative' at all from all the photos and interviews i'v seen from her later on in life.
