Default What would Season 12 of the Jeffersons looked like??

Lionel was supposed to move back home but is now divorced from Jenny. What storylines would they have come up with?

It would've been tough but all the cast thought they were coming back. The writers were great so I'm sure it could've worked but season 12 would've been the last for sure.

One idea is Lionel could've found a love interest who is a niece of Helen or something so the 2 families are connected together again despite George's desire to be rid of the Willises!

Of course they would've had to introduce a new black female character to the show. I thought of having Lionel date a white lady but that would've turned off much of the audience. Probably more black viewers than white believe it or not.

Even in TODAY's shows you rarely see white women dating/marrying black men or the other way around.

That Hawaii episode should have been saved for the last season because it would have been the perfect way to end things. But I am not sure what else could have been done. I mean the main characters were already living their best life so what else could they have done for a season 12? Go back to Hawaii? lol

Maybe Lionel could've started his own business? Maybe one to compete with George??

He could've started dating a new lady.

One storyline they never thought of is Bentley gets mixed up in some Russian espianoge at the U.N. or something & gets arrested so George has to bail him out! But in reality it's just a mixup and Bentley didn't do anything wrong.

There's actually quite a few U.N. storylines you can think of involving Bentley that they never used!

Helen's neice would be Jenny's first cousin and Jessica's second cousin. ICK!!! Also, by that time, George did not want to be rid of the Willis'. Tom was his best friend for a while at that point.

Lionel and Jenny should have gotten back together.
Florence could meet a nice man who she gets engaged to, same with Bentley. They have a double wedding at the Jefferson home!

These 4 episodes from season 7 should have been for season 11 and been the start of wrapping up the series

Hawaii part 1
Hawaii part 2
Hawaii part 3
Hawaii part 4
Florence New 1
Florence New 2

Yep, the Hawaii episodes could have been saved for the very end. George and Weezie decide to move to Hawaii and The Willis' buy a time share down there so they can visit a couple of times a year.

But when the window opens up for a new series or your own series you better take it because the chance may not come again. Unless Marla Gibbs negotiated behind the scenes to start "Checking In" after the Jeffersons finished but obviously she didn't do that.

Plus she went to 227 after the Jeffersons.

Lol Jeffersons story ideas

Interesting discussion re The Jeffersons stories. Hawaii episodes could have been nice final episodes. But the cast was a bit older then and may have been hesitant to be filmed in bathing suits.

Plus no one knew for sure the show would last 11 seasons. Seven seasons was pretty much the length of a hit show at the time. As explained in the book titled HONKY IN THE HOUSE (about story development and inside workings of The Jeffersons), CBS wanted the series to begin 7th season with the Hawaii trip, which turned out to be a good ratings choice.

a good ratings choice was moving the show to sunday nights after almost being cancelled after season 5

They could've taken another trip somewhere like Florida, California, Jamaica, or how about Aspen for a ski vacation?

Plus season 12 could've FINALLY had an Archie Bunker reunion/confrontation!
