First of all I cannot figure out how Trader Joe's manages to survive and I can't also figure out how Trader Joe's has become so popular. Mom and I visited Trader Joe's once just to see what the hype was about. And to our surprise we disliked it because from we saw of it Trader Joe's seemed to have food geared to people who liked healthy foods and every section had items like vegetarian burritos to vegetable nachos and organic cereals and when Mom and saw these items we were shocked that Trader Joe's sold these items and Mom first thought Trader Joe's was like The Swiss Colony and Hickory Farms. In fact after spending an hour in Trader Joe's we decided to shop Albertson's because we were disappointed in Trader Joe's. What I think Trader Joe's is trying to do is bring out a new type of supermarket to attract a new generation of shoppers. And with stores such as Whole Foods Market and Sprouts opening stores in cities we are seeing a new breed of supermarkets that are attracting a new audience of people who want to eat healthier. But in the 90's Trader Joe's seemed to be even more popular by opening more stores and having competition with supermarkets like Safeway and Albertson's and other stores aimed at healthy foods such as the no longer in business health food supermarket chain Bread Of Life. But now that Trader Joe's has become even more popular I expect them to become more popular and soon they will be the number one supermarket chain second to Whole Foods Market and Sprouts

I shop at TJ's and Sprout's. I like TJ's selection and their prices. I see TJ's is closing for Easter this year, which is good.

I personally like Trader Joe’s, but during this pandemic, especially in NYC it has VERY HIGH traffic. They had to close 3 stores in my borough because workers tested positive for the coronavirus.
Even first thing in the morning there’s a long line. I shop at a smaller, but more expensive store that is nicely stocked. It’s worth it for my piece of mind. |

I love Trader Joe's and I really don't shop there as much as I should. I live really close to it now so I don't have an excuse!

I love Trader Joe's, Such a cute little store with a chill vibe. The fresh produce is really good, and they sell a delicious pre made Chinese chicken salad that I always buy !
But with this pandemic it is always so crowded , always a line and a couple people are let in at a time. It just seems panicked now, like the chill vibe is kind of gone, it's sad !!![]() Sprouts is on the same line as a Trader Joe's but bigger , and the pandemic hasn't seemed to change it much, it doesn't seem really crowded or panicked!

I don’t blame her. I ‘m concerned people will not be practicing Proper spacing. At the one near me, there was an hour wait to get in. 3 Trader Joe’s had to be shut down for about 10 days because some workers tested positive.
Their products are great as are their prices, but it’s too nerve-wracking for me to go in there right now. I am shopping in a West Side Market. They’re about 50-60% more expensive than a Trader Joe’s—but if I go early practically no one is in the store. Waiting makes me crazy. |
