Default "Gone With the Wind"?

"As God as my witness....I'll never watch this episode again!!"

I know this is a favorite around here but I can't get on board. I just can't!

Tootie, who I LOVE...I wanted to strangle here! What the hell happened to her? It's like she was possessed, or drunk....or possessed AND drunk, and mental! Inviting the whole bar to the house when she's there for less than 10 minutes. Who does that?! WHY would anyone do that? And the whole bar just immediately dropped everything and left with her LOL! In what universe does that happen?!

Jo under the sunlamp for all of 30 seconds and gets burnt to a crisp. That doesn't happen either. Was that a parody of sunlamps or something?! It made no sense.

Blair falling in love with that 30 year old handyman. If he was under 30, then i'm 25! And in just 2 days she's in love with him?! I'm sorry, but that was so out of character for her. And as if that isn't unrealistic enough, they toss this in....We learn she wants to have a family "in 2 years"....so that means right out of college Blair wants children....Then what the hell is she doing at Langley if she's just going to pop out babies right after graduation?! Just looking for a husband?!

Natalie...NATALIE!!!....And this is the kicker!! The shocker to end ALL shockers!....NATALIE out of all of them was the NORMAL one here! The only one that showed common sense and stayed in character through the whole thing! And ironically the only one I liked!! Everything else was like the Twilight Zone, opposite world here! I couldn't believe what I was watching! It was like the Facts of Life go to another planet or something!

And Flyman...I remember that guy from some 80's daytime soap. He was cringy then and cringy here. That bad hair, and that bad singing....ah! He represents the dark part of the 80's that most of us would rather forget. I don't think Jo would've gone for a dork like that in a million years. Heck no. She would've spent the whole weekend making fun of that guy! And his bullets LOL...Oh Lord...WHY?!

Where oh WHERE was Mrs. G to save me from this inescapable nightmare?! I wished we had followed her wherever she went for those 2 episodes instead.

And living in FL for 20 years now, I can say with 100% certainty that we see hurricanes coming well over a week away. The girls would've known a hurricane was coming and would never have flown down there. They don't just pop out of the blue like tornadoes!

I'd rather be tied up and watch Jo on the horse with her photography teacher on non stop replay for 2 days then see this episode again.

Gone with the Wind?!.....More like Gone with the PLOT!!

Please, please let there be someone else that thinks this is a bizarre episode and not one of their best efforts. It was just so so....bad! Am I the only sane one?!

<ducking from the flinging arrows, torches and pitchforks now!>

It's not that bad of an episode. There's definitely better episodes than these two this season. I'm not surprise Tootie invited the whole bar. She was being a wild teenager on Spring Break. I thought that was normal. The sunlamp is definitely an exaggeration. I didn't like that part. I don't understand how Blair fell in love with Ben that quick either. They only knew each other for a few hours. At least Jo had more time with that teacher before getting serious with him.

May I spoil something for you about Flyman? If not, don't highlight the following text I put in white Flyman comes back for an episode in season 7

I hope you like The Last Drive In and Sisters. I think those are two of the best episodes from this series.

Wow, that is odd! I never registered that.

Well, we've got it in writing!

I didn't think it was. It always takes me aback when I see that. To me, not only does it seem "reaching" to do that, but this is Natalie's grandmother's home. Her best friend's grandmother's home. Why on earth she would invite a whole bar of people (in less than 10 minutes) to her best friend's grandmother's house is beyond me. That is incredibly risky and incredibly rude. Definitely not Tootie's best moment.

Nice of you to ask him, and nice to "hide it" too---what a great idea!

(I bet he'll highlight it---we know he can't resist peeking! )

Ahh, okay. I didn't remember that, so I had to Google what "bullet straps" are, lol.

Yeah, even Natalie made a snarky comment about it. He just looked ridiculous! Jo would've have laughed her ass off at him if she wasn't possessed in this episode like Tootie and Blair was.

And another thing about Tootie that was weird....she wastes 5 bucks on a whiskey sour not to drink it but just so she can hear herself order it?!! What kind of moron does that?! No one!!...And then she dances right out of that bar 2 minutes later with the whole bar following her and stiffing the others with her whisky bill!! LOL!

EDIT!....I highlighted and looked....not a spoiler because I saw that Atlantic City one (or was it Vegas?) last year when Decades had their marathon. That guy is just so bad lol. I have to Google him now to find out whatever became of him.

Flyman was Michael Damien from Young and the Restless. Seems he did that soap for 30 years and apparently hasn't done anything since 2013. And the world is grateful!!

Hahaha! I can actually see dumb teenagers doing that just for the thrill! (and I say "dumb" because a whole lot of teenagers do dumb things, past-teen-me included, lol)

Oh! And I forgot to add in my thoughts on your thoughts (lol)---I think Jo "dancing" when she could barely move was one of the funniest moments in the episode!

At least he didn't "fly" off to Bay City, Illinois!

The actor who played Ben was apparently 27 when this filmed....He must have fudged on his bio because he doesn't look a day under 30 to me.

There is!

You see, that's the "pattern" of the show. In seasons 1 and 2, the show got guys in their 20s to pass off as teenage boys to date these underage girls. So when the girls are around 20, the show guys in their 30s to pass off as 20-somethings to date them.

So see? That's just how it goes!

It was just dumb. I've done wacky things as a teen, but never ordered a drink just to hear myself do it. They just had Tootie acting drunk for some reason. If she was, I could let it slide, but she was supposed to be sober and acting like a nut job!

And that's not saying much either! Too bad we didn't see what happened when she supposedly jumped on stage with the Flyman. (God even his name is cringeworthy)....I swear normal Jo would've been making fun of that guy through the whole episode.

I can see if Natalie hooked up with him and Jo ragged on it. That would've made much more sense.

AW had quality actors and wouldn't have dared to hire that two bit dancing monkey for their show! Never!

Can you see someone like Flyman sparring with the likes of Carl Hutchins?! I can't either.

I edited that out! Ah...you caught it....I did poor math. He was born in 1958 so he was 27 not 37...but the fact that you easily believed it shows how old he looks.

You really cracked me up with your 'TWILIGHT ZONE' comparison for 'Gone with the wind'!

I'm sorry that this time we don't have the same point of view: i actually didn't think it was weird for BLAIR to fall for a guy she just met! (sometimes it happens like that with love at first sight) I think the fact that BEN put her in her place is what made BLAIR fall for him.
Even JO says "Blair likes him too!"

And to me BEN could have easily passed for a college guy (he didn't look 30 come on!).
If you consider all the guys BLAIR's been dating: to me CLIFF and TED looked more like 30, and at the time she was only a high school kid and a college freshman lol!:eek

But i'm surely glad MRS G wasn't around: it would have been just like an episode like the 'Girls school' (except they were a little older and had boys) having her running like crazy and making facial expressions ha ha ha! and yelling "GIRLS AND BOYS!"
