As we all know TV Land has finally followed suite in the tradition
of other networks and have grown chop happy with the cutting tools in the form of over excessive editing. While I have grudgingly grown to accept this I cannot understand why
they would choose to cut out funny and or sentimental lines from
episodes of MTM. A prime example would be the bathtub scene
from "Mary's Insomnia" it occurs after Ted drops his glasses into
the tub with Mary and Mary says, "Don't you daaarrrreee." Ted said, "Relax Mary this'll only take an hour" or something to that
affect. TV Land cuts the scene after Mary says her line and we next see Lou and Mary in the living room alone.
Another example is in the final show when Mary keeps asking if she can say what she wanted to say to the gang but keeps getting stopped short by Lou. Can anyone else think of any other examples and did you also notice the aforementioned cut in the bathtub scene?

Oh, I saw "The Last Show" on TV Land when they had that marathon when the statue was dedicated. I was SO mad!!

That's definitely one of my favorite episodes, and they kept cutting parts out of it. My suggestion, if you can afford it, is to go out and buy Columbia House's tapes. They have the uncut versions of both "The Last Show" and "Mary's Insomnia" (Which I also love!) as well as many others.

Yes I've noticed their slap-happy editing and it makes me furious. And they don't just cut out unimportant things (are there any of those on TMTMS anyway?), they cut out hilarious lines and scenes. Last night they cut out the whole Ted skating around on the newly waxed WJM floor scene from "The Sexagenerian" (sp?) and a while back in "Mary's Delinquent" they cut out one of my favourite lines from it, the whole red Tic-Tac scene. Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head right now, but I know there are loads more. It seems that about every other ep I watch I can usually find something funny that they cut out.
