Default Fan Tribute: The Eastland Cafeteria LEGO™ Set

So I decided to catch up on a few episodes of "Collector's Call" built up on my DVR, and I was watching the LEGO episode when it took such a wonderful turn!

It happened when they got to talking about the "LEGO Ideas" toy line about sets honoring TV shows and movies.

(like I alluded to in the post headline though, no, this is not something you can buy in stores [yet??]---it's a single custom-made piece shown in this episode of CC)

You guys, this whole little part of the show was so cool!!

Full transcript and photos below:

(my apologies for the photo quality, I paused my almost 20-year-old washing out and pixelating out tube TV and took the photos with my digital camera---but I had to share!)

JEFF: (solo "aside" interview to camera) "Knowing that Lisa was gonna be here today, and with her being on 'The Facts of Life', I had to try and recreate something to wow her over. And the best way of doing that is flattery through LEGO."

LISA: "Jeff, do you do a lot of your own creating?"

JEFF: "Actually, I have one item that I'd like to show you and see what you think about it."

LISA: "Okay. "

JEFF: "See if this could be maybe a future LEGO Ideas idea."

LISA: "I could be one of the fan votes. "

JEFF: "Okay."

[JEFF brings out his Eastland cafeteria LEGO set]

LISA: [GASP!]

LISA: "Oh, why---yes, yes, they must make this! I love this!"

JEFF: (solo "aside" interview to camera) "It's the 'Facts of Life' cafeteria. I loved the look on her face when we pulled it out. It was absolutely fantastic. " (as he says this, they show her wonderful genuine delighted gasp in slow motion)

LISA: "I love it! This is incredible."

LISA: (solo "aside" interview to camera) "I was shocked by the Eastland school cafeteria. It brought me back to my childhood! It looked just like the set!"

JEFF: "One of the rarest things is this color of the background."

LISA: "Right?"

JEFF: "Having that blue was very hard to find."

LISA: "And what about the uniforms, the Eastland uniforms??"

JEFF: "These are actually Harry Potter uniforms."

LISA: [gasp!]

LISA: (solo "aside" interview to camera) "Yes they're Harry Potter, but you have to look really closely because the color is perfect and it looks just like the Eastland school uniform."

LISA: "And Blair is oblivious to anyone but herself right now. She's just --"

JEFF: "But that's okay."

LISA: "--smiling about it."

JEFF: "She had the hair."

LISA: (solo "aside" interview to camera) [mock seriousness] "Finally, someone did justice to Blair's hair."

JEFF: "And if you look really carefully, I hate to tell ya, there's a mouse in the cafeteria."

LISA: "See, that is the one thing that is not true to the show."

JEFF: "lol"

LISA: "Mrs. Garrett would not tolerate a mouse in the cafeteria."

JEFF: "I always have to hide a little one-up just for fun."

LISA: "Okay, 'cause it does need your signature."

JEFF: "Absolutely."

LISA: (solo "aside" interview to camera) "I love Jeff's sense of humor. He's got this little, tiny rebellious streak: Just put a mouse in the cafeteria."

And how fitting since she was Blair!

She must still use Countess Calvet! (cosmetics line featured in season 2, lol)

Maybe they'll make some LEGO Countess Calvet cosmetics as accessories.

Well, I dunno about "filmed", but it aired on the Ides of March (March 15th). So it was probably filmed last summer or fall, would be my guess (just now watching it because I was too preoccupied on the Ides of March this year screening 1982's 90-minute top 10 TV movie "Eunice" about Eunice and Mama and the Harper family, since it premiered on the Ides of March, lol---I'm nothing if not celebratory! ).

Thanks for the photos and transcript, '80s!

The Harry Potter uniforms work great as Eastland uniforms.

Where is the lobby, and why didn't he make the lounge and the kitchen?

My god, what is Lisa wearing? Is she converting to Amish?

My pleasure! I had to! (and it kept me up another hour, jeez! lol)

They sure do! And apparently a LEGO boy works great as Jo!

But when Lisa talks about how it looked just like the set, why did they show an episode photo with a guest star in it, and with the big mobile sink unit in the way?? What an odd choice!

Probably because he's a casual fan and isn't as obsessive as we would be. And that may have taken too long for him! lol

But, I assume you're joking, that would be huge. I would expect a toy playset of a TV show to be one set.

Ha! Well, I think it shows up worse in these pics, lol. The next episode had her looking more like her usual self, lol.

I just LOVE those photos of "THE gasp", and her reaching out so delighted for the set---her excitement was just like a little girl at Christmas!

Flash Flood Blair: "And stop calling me 'little girl'!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Wish he would start a Go Fund Me page so we can get this idea going.

I'll have to watch for the rerun.

I take it that you're a BLAIR fan too, if you've got her on your profile?
