Default Continuity error!

Watching "Jazzbeau" now on Antenna TV. It's a flashback episode to summer where Natalie & Tootie worked in the Poconos. (Is that where they were in the 'Summer of 84" flashback?)

Anyway, Tooties braces are miraculously gone! I mean, they could've slapped on some fake ones for her couldn't they? It's distracting because I keep wondering where her damn braces are that I can't focus on the story.

I'm sure when it aired weekly, it was easier for something like this to go over the audiences heads. I'm also wondering if this isn't a favorite of Christopher's since he doesn't seem to like flashbacks.

EDIT!!!....Wait a minute....She DOES have very light tiny braces on....you can barely see them unless she smiles wide. So she does have something slapped in there...but it's definitely NOT her usual braces. It's still distracting!

To be honest, i found the JAZZBEAU episode a little boring, and the fact that ANDY was there really ANNOYED me! (sorry, but his character is a reminder that soon it'll be the end of MRS G and the beginning of BEVERLY ANN boohoo!)

I found it boring too. And wondered why Nat and Tootie would be working where they're spending their summer vacation?! When I go to resorts I don't ask them if they need some p/t help while i'm there!

The next episode was much better because it focused on Mrs. G!! "Two Guys from Appleton" where Mrs. G plans to marry her old love. The funniest bit was Blair walking in from shoveling snow in her mink coat, and then being told to salt the ice outside, and she picks up a salt shaker from the table and happily runs outside with it. The visual was just so funny!

So this is Kevin that was mentioned earlier? He looks like he's being groomed for Blairs next boyfriend, but I know from here that he leaves quickly. It's a shame because I think he's ok. Oh well. Easy come, easy go I guess.

I still don't mind Andy. So far he's a sweet little kid. I'm not getting annoyed with him yet.

Kim Fields had braces and since it would be a pain to take them off when filming. If you see Tootie have no braces one show and then braces the next show, then those shows were showed out of the sequence when Kim's braces were removed.

They were removable to take off if she wanted to? I didn't know that. I never had braces but always thought once they go on you can't take them off for anything. So far i've seen a couple of episodes where they're on and then off, but I know from here that FOL liked airing episodes out of filming order for whatever odd reason they had for it.

Has anyone from the show ever explained just why they did that?!

One reason was Nancy M.'s holdout for two shows. They moved one of the shows to mid season. Another was the Interview Show, which you could clearly see was filmed in the fall with the leaves changing color, but they showed it as the season finale in the spring.

I'll keep my eye out for that one. Right now Antenna is in the middle of season 6 and I see a big stretch of 6 episodes in a row without Mrs. G coming up. (Boo!) And then "Bus Stop" & "The Interview Show" airs.

And then starts the "Over Our Heads" years.

There is no 'FACTS OF LIFE' without MRS G: it's like watching a ghost town...

I think you're going to find 'The interview show' were bittersweet (it's the end of MRS G with her girls)

And yes: 'Over our heads' deserves a big BOOHOO!

No no no, he meant they would be a pain to take off during filming because you can't, lol.

But you apparently can put on fake ones. I'm certain Kim Fields had fake braces on during Jazzbeau, because they were really thin looking and you hardly saw any metal like her original ones. So they did make a half hearted attempt at continuity.

I still don't understand though why the hell they were both working at the resort they were staying in?! It was summer vacation. Were they working for their meals or something?!
