The cross-network crossover between Dick Wolf franchises was set up on Wednesday's Chicago P.D. episode when Upton was dispatched to serve a temporary assignment at the New York bureau of the FBI. The NBC star will appear on next week's FBI episode. "Tracy’s character is a fan favorite, and I’m extraordinarily happy to be shining an even greater light on her and gaining new fans along the way before she returns to Chicago P.D.," said Wolf, who had long wanted the NBC-CBS crossover to happen. Wolf hinted at the FBI-Chicago P.D. crossover at the TV press tour in January, saying: "Stay tuned… It’s going to get very interesting."
