In the early 80s CBS were back at #1 after a few years of getting their asses handed to them by the successes of Happy Days, Three's Company, Laverne and Shirley and much more. By 1980 CBS finally caught up to ABC with their smash hit dramas (Dallas, Knots Landing) and consistent ratings from comedies (MASH, Jeffersons, Alice, and One Day at a Time) With their rebound already in motion, the next three years the network used the slogan " We've Got The Touch" As someone who listens to yearly network campaign songs a lot have to say CBS during this time were great at this. Each year they improved on the video packaging with the stars of each show, creating an euphoric feeling few networks are able to do year to year.
The 83 and 84 version still holds up in my opinion and sounds great. The standout version is the 1985 version sung by the recently late Kenny Rodgers. https://youtu.be/hy9AVKJkYn0 |
