Default Jo dating her teacher

Not a fan of this episode---and a 2 parter to boot. Ugh. I guess it was inevitable one of them was going to learn this fact of life...dating older guy with a kid, but it was just boring. And I hated that the rest of the cast was basically shoved into the background for 2 episodes.

And when Mrs. G finally gets to offer her advice, it lasts just 60 seconds and over. I'd go as far as call this the worst of the entire series. (so far).

From Wikipedia:

"Taking a Chance on Love" airdate November 7, 1984 Episodes 109 & 110

Since it only shows 1 airdate, it must have been a 1 hour episode.

"Jo falls in love with her photography instructor Sam Hall (Kristoffer Tabori)."

Ah, yeah. Season Six. But the next episode, with Mrs. G., is pretty good.

Yeah, I took a peek at the next weeks synopsis and it does look good. Will see that one tomorrow.

I peeked at the one after that and it looks interesting too. (Jo thinks about her friendship with Blair with the aid of a talking computer.)

I THINK I remember this one where at the end of the episode, the computer tells Jo to end her friendship with Blair. I have a vague memory of that. And of course she doesn't.

Hey, Spoiler Alert!

(Just kidding).

I Liked "E.G.O.C.", and also "Talk, Talk" Talk", but I don't care for some of the other episodes you'll soon be watching: "Dear Apple", "The Rich Aren't Different", "Christmas in the Big House", "Me and Eleanor", "Jazzbeau", and "Bus Stop". Not enough Edna Garrett for my taste. And "TRAD" makes me see red.

The last one looks so good though! Don't tell me why you see red though! I don't wanna know TOO much! (It airs Thursday on AntennaTV) But the description looks entertaining:
Blair takes Jo to small claims court over a broken wristwatch.
....I'm intrigued now!

I see this at the beginning of the Season 6 page of Wikipedia:

Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) was absent from several episodes in season 6 per Rae's request for reduced appearances.

I know it's Wikipedia and to take it with a grain of salt, especially since there's no footnote to back up that claim, but if true, I wonder why she'd request that. Was she getting tired of the series by then?

Wikipedia is correct, here. Producers believed "the show was the girls", in the words of Margie Peters.

Charlotte was rarely getting her own episodes by then. She said there wasn't much for her character to do anymore. Her character had gradually become "Come in, offer good advice and some delicious quiche, exit stage left." And by the next season, she couldn't even make quiche.

If that's what Charlotte wanted, it's a shame they didn't take a chance on her spinning off again with another series without the girls. It probably would've bombed, but I think she was worth taking a shot at. Or maybe she was just tired and wanted to retire. I'm sure she must have been in her 60's by then.

I couldn't agree any more with you cfr1970: that was the WORST episode from season 6 (nevertheless BORING!) and MRS G was definitely shoved in the background....
I suppose the teacher was a hunk (kind of like a younger version of ROGER MOORE) but still, there was no chemistry whatsoever between JO and him!

OMG you mean there's even worse episodes in the series than that one?! Yikes. This one is pretty hard to top.

That was the ONLY bad episode from season 6, and not to be a spoiler, you gotta watch 'GONE WITH THE WIND': now that's a 'REAL' guy for BLAIR ha ha ha!

Gone With the Wind airs next Thursday 4/2 on Antenna tv. I peeked at the Wikipedia episode page and it says a hurricane in FL during spring break! Sounds fun lol. ok...no spoilers! I'm looking forward to this one!

Too bad they didn't get stranded in the Golden Girls house lol....it was before that show started but what a fun crossover that could've been!

Season Seven was rough. Season Nine was more rough.
