According to the producer/creator, it was bumped for the Fresh Prince which ended up becoming a hit for them for six years. I question that story even though it's on tape given that a new show, Ferris Bueller was airing immediately after Fresh Prince in Fall 1990 (which was canceled and then Blossom started in January 1991). NBC was really betting on Ferris Bueller and co-branded the new Monday night as 'Cool Mondays with Fresh Prince and Ferris' this fall on NBC before the Monday Night Movie! All the cool kids will be watching NBC on Mondays, don't be the one at school who misses it!

But couldint they had moved alf to a diffrent night or couldint they had moved to another network insted of being canled?

I was sad that ALF didn't come back for a fifth season, too, especially when the fourth season ended on a cliffhanger.
