Default The first 5 seasons

Seasons 1 through 5 are the best IMO. I've watched the whole run now on Cozi and I think the show was great right up until the 92-93 season.

From the 6th season in 93 and on it seems to have changed. Roseanne is no longer bitter funny, but bitter mean, Darlene turns into the perpetually morose, monotone talking, robotic, unfeeling character you just want to slap through the TV screen. As the series progresses, I just hate that character more and more.

Becky changing back and forth became an ongoing distraction, and Jackie went full blown neurotic, nutcase and overacting to where she just became a cartoon character.

Roseanne's ongoing plastic surgery was also a distraction...and of course there's season 9 when it completely flew off the rails and is completely unwatchable.

I'll continue watching it when it starts all over again from the beginning, but will stop at season 6.

I like the 6th season better than seasons 1-2, some classic episodes like smoking pot, masterbation, DJ going to church, Bev breaking her hip having sex etc;

I love the first seven seasons. Season 8 is mostly eh... Season 9 is an abomination.

Don't forget how Dan was much more aggressive and more prone to outbursts. I don't think season 1-3 Dan would've punched a hole in the wall.

But I still really like seasons 6 and 7, they had some of the most classic episodes like A Stash from the Past and Rear Window. I think around season 8 is when it noticeably went downhill.

I totally agree. The show is best in the first 5 seasons. Sitcoms usually dont last being so good for so long. Classic hits like All In The Family, Golden Girls, and Threes Company are at their peak the first 4 seasons.

What Roseanne did better than most sitcoms was introducing new characters that actually worked. Most times new characters introduced late in the series flop. I would have never thought David moving into the house would work. But strangely it was ok. The Lunch Box worked for scenes much better than Jack's Bistro on Threes Company. Even in the later years there were some good shows but they were the exception. I have no interest in any show in the last season though. I wish the original Becky never left. She was a good character to always challenge Roseanne.

The Roseanne character changed from sarcastic funny to sarcastic mean. It was still clever and funny but not as much as the earlier seasons.
