I have more than one favorite scene, but all of them are serious ones, because i'm so sentimental! i really like 2 specific "tear-jerking" episodes, one with archie and gloria alone, and one with archie and mike alone.

the first is the episode where gloria finds out she is pregnant and archie is grumpy about it. gloria ends up having a miscarriage, and then archie is sorry. i love the scene where he visits gloria in her bedroom and holds her hand. he shows in this scene that he really does care about and love his daughter very much.

the second is the episode where mike and archie are locked in the cellar together, and get drunk. then archie reveals to mike that his father physically abused him as a child. i like this episode because it makes mike think about archie's opinions and attitudes in a more entlightened and perhaps more charitable way. i thought it was very sweet when archie falls asleep on the floor and mike covers him with a blanket.

When Gloria was in a short skirt bending over and Archie grumbled,"The mystery's a;; over!"

Red face

I liked when Archie tied Mike and Gloria to a chair together, to make up.

Knowing Archie's bedtime values, the part when all of them are on the same bed, and it collapses is really funny.

I like the scene where Mike and Archie are locked in the store room together too, that one always gets me.

Mike: Goodnight, shoebootie.

I also like the one where Gloria has her miscarriage, and the episode where Mike and Gloria are moving to CA. and Mike tells Archie, I know you always thought I hated you, but I love you, and gave him a hug.

Another one that gets me is the one where that old man invents the gizmo where you can ring the doorbell from your car, and he dies on Archie, and Edith's couch. Archie gets all weepy, it just breaks my heart. Nobody can do a better job at looking heartbroken than Carroll O'Connor, nobody. I always start crying whenever he does one of those scenes.

I HAVE A FAVORITE SCENE WHICH INCLUDES EDITH. IT IS THE ONE WHERE SHE IS EXPLAINING TO ALL OF THEM HOW SHE AND KATHARINE HEPBURN HAVE THE SAME BLOOD. IT IS HILARIOUS!

I am in full agreement with Becky W. about that particular episode. I teared up as well.

Here is my favorite. In the 75-76 season opener had Gloria announces her pregnancy that resulted in Joey. The scene when she sat in Archie's lap after Mike stormed out of the house after an argument over the pregnancy. That tender moment between Archie and Gloria was emotionally powerful.

Sally Struthers stated in many interviews that Carroll O'Connor was like a father to her due to losing her's very young. That's what made those scenes so real and genuine. The strong bond they had.

I love the ones you mentioned. I'm getting teary eyed just reading the quote you posted where Mike and Gloria move to CA.

My favorite Mike, Archie, and Gloria scene is from the two-part episode where Edith gets raped. In that scene, Joey's goldfish dies and Archie says something (I can't remember exactly what) that makes things worse.
