Default SHOUT! Factory DVD Request: "Anything But Love: The Complete Series"

Dear Brian,

I have a proposal for SHOUT! Factory: to make a deal with 20th Century Fox Television (as of 2017 a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) for SHOUT! Factory to issue a brand-new DVD compilation titled "Anything But Love: The Complete Series," showcasing all 56 half-hour episodes of the hit 1989-1992 sitcom "Anything But Love" 100% Complete, 100% Uncut, AND 100% Unedited, just the way they originally aired on the ABC Television Network.

Created by John Ritter, "Anything But Love" was an '80s sitcom originally airing on ABC from March 7, 1989 - June 3, 1992; the series was based loosely on John's real-life courtship with Amy Yasbeck--a courtship which began when the two met in late 1988 on the set of the first "Problem Child" movie while John was still legally married to then-wife Nancy Morgan, causing John's marriage to Nancy to be everything-but-over until they divorced in 1996.

John soon hired writer Wendy Kout to write a pilot script for him and the duo of Dennis Koenig and Peter Noah to develop the series, eventually casting Jamie Lee Curtis and Richard Lewis as, respectively, Hannah Miller and Marty Gold, 2 struggling Chicago writers who worked for the fictional Chicago Monthly magazine (later Chicago Weekly) who first met at the start of the series on a plane while Hannah flew back to Chicago after a failed relationship.

Though they initially denied their attraction--at first--at the end of the first season in 1990, Marty and Hannah finally admitted their mutual attraction.

At the start of Season 2 in February 1991, John Ritter cast himself in a handful of episodes as Patrick Surneau, a local artist and Marty's rival for Hannah's affections; during its Spring trial run, "Anything But Love" was telecast on Tuesday nights at 9 P.M. ET after "Roseanne" on ABC.

After becoming a regular series that Fall in 1989, "Anything But Love" began airing Wednesday nights at 9 P.M. ET on ABC after "Doogie Howser" for the remainder of the first season and the entire 2nd season until ABC moved the show to Wednesday nights at 10 P.M. ET as the lead-in to the short-lived Disney sitcom "Good and Evil," starring Teri Garr--a series that aired only 4 out of 11 made episodes til its ABC cancellation, causing "Anything But Love" to move back to its old timeslot of Wednesday nights at 9 P.M. ET midseason.

In January 1992, "Anything But Love," after 3 seasons, was cancelled, unusually, NOT by ABC but by 20th Century Fox Television, with the Studio calculating that "Anything But Love" would not be renewed for another season by ABC or be profitable in Syndication; its final telecast occurred on June 3, 1992 with the last produced episode filmed earlier that year, "Marty Walks."

Reruns did, however, air briefly on Lifetime in the early '90s and on Comedy Central in early 1998; in addition, the entire first season of 28 episodes was issued on DVD by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment as "Anything But Love: Volume One," with Seasons 2 and 3 so far unreleased on DVD.

tbh, I'd love it if SHOUT! Factory were to issue "Anything But Love: The Complete Series" on DVD on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at a cost of only $39.99 wherever DVDs are sold.

Sincerely,
Steve Arino
