That guy at the TV station tells the kids it will be prerecorded so they can all see themselves next week. They air it however at 11:00 am on a Thursday. How weird is that?
That kid Brad is in the corridor holding a lunchbox. Beaver never brought a lunch box after season 4. Wally mentions how Beaver is wearing his tie when he sees him on TV. He sat right at the kitchen table that morning of the filming and saw him up close. I’m surprised Beaver didn’t balk at wearing a suit. Why didn’t that woman at the TV studio explain to him about how it’s been prerecorded. Beaver mentions 2 girls from his class while on TV but both names are used before. Susan Bean and Kathy Gregory. Fred is especially insulting to Ward about Beaver. |

Yep, Kathy Gregory, also Wally's girlfriend who took a dip in the fountain. Then there's "mean Shirley" in Beaver's class (sheepdog), and mean Shirley who needles Wally when he's taking driving lessons--despite that, he later dates her.
That kid Brad is probably Langley's son. Beaver mentioned Bradley when he confronted Langley about cheating at golf (can you see this happening in the real world?) I never noticed when Beaver stopped carrying a lunchbox, but his signature cap was getting too small in season 5. I'm pretty sure he doesn't wear it in season 6. This is the green cap that (according to Mathers in his book) was actually his (Mathers') cap, and that wardrobe could not find another one like it. |

Regarding Langley: When Langley tried to fix things with Mr. Howard he really just made things worse. He never really fessed up about cheating and then engaged Beaver in another plot to pay the money back. If you can’t afford to bet $500 don’t do it. Howard must have been a real schmuck as he never kept abreast of the strokes and assumed Langley wasn’t cheating. Then after losing $500 he agrees to another bet to play for another $500?
This was full of holes. Langley probably couldn’t afford to lose $500 because that wedding took him to the cleaners. As for Brad he could have been Bradley Langley but later in Uncle Billy ll he’s got another name like Alan. |

Why would a kids TV show air at 11AM on a Thursday? I guess all the kids at Grant Ave ES had DVR's in '63!

Didn't everybody in 1963?
And if they were going to have a Teen Forum show at 11 am on Thursday, why would they bother to videotape it and show it at the same time a week later? Mrs. Rayburn would probably say, if you're going to delay the program, tape it at a time when the children will not miss school instruction--maybe on a weekend or on a weekday evening. |

Yeah, that was a bit odd. Local stations in 1963, even in larger markets, would probably still air a program like that live. If they did tape, it would be after school or a weekend like you stated, so as to not pull kids from school.

Videotape back then was large, bulky, and would take up a lot of storage space. So if they taped it, the tape probably would be used over and over. A reason to air it live.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_...1972_game_show) This was a local show for years, but not like Teen Forum. It was a knowledge show. Right now it's on hiatus which could be permanent, due to the sponsor pulling out. The article mentions it being filmed--they meant taped. Of course there was also GE College Bowl, which was on NBC for years. |
