Question All In The Family spinoff- Called "Archie Bunker's Place"

I just found out that there was an All In The Family spin off, called "Archie Bunker's Place", and i was just wondering if anybody knew if or when it is on Television. It sounds very interesting and i would really enjoy to watch it, so if anybody knows if it is on television please let me know when and what channel, i would appreciate it a lot!

I have episodes of the show "Archie Bunkers Place". It used to air in my area. The episodes that I have were taped in Chicago but it does not air there anymore. I have the 2 parter when Edith died of a Stroke. That was kind of a depressing episode.

I reallu wouldn't call it a spinoff, it is really "All in the Family" renamed. It is the continuation of show, it's just that the action shifts over to "Archie's Bar" In syndication Archie Bunker's Place is in a different package than All in the family as far as aring goes. The "All in the Family show ran from 1971-1983 with a name change in the last 4 seasons.

It's not airing there anymore. That was the only syndicated brodcast station in this country airing it for the past year I believe, but I am not sure about that. This channel is the UPN station of Philly (as Todd said). It also airs "Good Times" occasionally on Sundays at 12:00pm and sometime during the night on Sundays. Also airs "Sanford and Son" and "All In The Family" on a weekly basis. A lot of brodcast stations air Good Times nowadays.

Youre right. WPSG Philly is the only station to air ABP. The other one was WCIU Chicago during the summer of 99 on sunday nights.
It ran on WGN way back in the early to mid 1980s for a period of time at 5:30 weekday evenings.

I got the word the WSPG the local station in Philadelphia will be airing the show again starting in January. The episodes I have are taped from WCIU in chicago and WSPG in Philadelphia. The show did air on WGN channel 9 in the late 80's (at10:30E/T 9:30 C/T) my local station WFTS 28 back in 1987 at 7:30pm-8:00pm and then later moved to weekdays at 10:30am. When the shows came on both channels at the same time, I would switch back and forth between the channels and try to watch the different episodes that both stations has aired. It's funny how you can remember things like that.

Tom - did you live in Chicago area last year ? if so i think i traded with you some ABP shows for Laurel & hardy.
I have 94 eps on tape and am in desperate need of:
"Marriage on the Rocks"(Harrys wife kicks him out)
"Store Wars" (Murray returns)
from the last season & i hope they show these on WPSG in January.

and about "Growing up Is Hard To do" where Stephanies father returns WPSG always skips this one as well as "Thanksgiving Reunion" &
"Gloria Comes Home". Could it be they dont have these shows ? i dont know...
they do air "Gloria-the first day" which follows the 2 part episode when gloria and joey first come back.
I have "Gloria Comes Home"&"Thanksgiving" from CBS luckily.
97 eps were made so i hope sometime they will show the others which ironically are 2 part episodes.

Red face

Ok, Archie Bunker's Place was about the bar that Archie owned. They had Stephine and Barney cast as regulers. Edith would appear in a few 1980 episodes, and then she died of a stroke.

I consider "Archie Bunker's Place" a follow-up series to AITF, the same way "Three's a Crowd" followed "Three's Company" and "Golden Palace" followed "Golden Girls", rather than a spinoff.

Although Carroll O'Connor is always good, ABP really pales in comparison to AITF. However, there are some episodes of ABP worth catching, especially from the first season, when most of the AITF creative team (director, producers, writers) was still in place. Edith turns up occasionally during this first season as well, and these episodes play like they could have been made for AITF's last season. There's a two-part "Thanksgiving" episode where Mike and Gloria return to Queens for a visit. This is worth seeing, since it's the last time the original quartet is together in character.

The other ABP episode worth your time is "Archie Alone". It's a two-part episode that takes place a month after Edith died of a stroke, with Archie in denial over her loss. Carroll O'Connor has a pretty powerful scene at the end of the show where Archie finally comes to terms with Edith's death. After this episode, though, you can safely skip the rest of "Archie Bunker's Place" without missing much.
