Default BEWARE!

Before you trade with this person please read my Trader alert in the trading newsgroup. I sent this person over $150 as part of a Trade/Reimbursement deal for some Andy Griffith Show Tapes and more than a month later still don't have 14 of them. He won't respond to e-mails, etc, so trade at your own risk. I have all the e-mails, etc, to document my attempts to resolve this with this person.

Thanks for the info. I can't stand con-artists like that who try and ruin it for others. I too had a bad experience, but with some guy called bast553@yahoo.com or "Classic TV Hits". He told me that he sent me a package, provided me with a tracking number, but when I didn't get the package, he said that he wasn't responsible for what the Post Office lost. He gave me a fake phone number to call the Post office, and the residence I did reach, gave me the correct phone number. When I called that Post Office, they said that they would do a report on it. I still to this day don't know if he is just irresponsible, or if he deliberately scammed me. All I do know is that he didn't lift a finger to call the post office that is in his local area. I had to call from Illinois to Alabama, so BEWARE!!

I've traded with Eric (bast553@yahoo.com) and he is a good trader. It sure doesn't sound like him, but we traded a few months back. He was fast and the quality was very good. But if RWCTV had a problem, take it into consideration. You never know until you try trading with a person, right?

I'm sorry you had a bad experience trading with me, Rob, but I almost had a heart attack when I saw this post... TVJunkie e-mailed it to me. I did not intentionally rip you off... as a matter of fact, I DIDN'T rip you off! I put in a search request to the Ozark Post Office, and they never found what I sent to you... As for the tapes you sent me: don't worry, I'll send them back... oh, wait... you didn't even bother to send my tapes, did you?

Who's the con-artist, again?

Well, to be fully honest I haven't done any trading on any of the boards. I've seen some bad experiences on the boards before and I posted an idea about a feedback forum on the Sanford and Son board. I think it was on the S & S board. I think the whole 'Do unto others thing' should be involved in anything, whether it be trading or whatever. I know we have a bunch of bad people in this world that gets a high everytime they rip somebody off. It's sad, but true.

I think a con-artist is someone who ignores and doesn't reply with the series of e-mails that I send them. What was I suppose to think when your registration information said Location: Residence of Blance Devereux and you were born in 1901? That was there at the time. That in turn got me cautious, and that is why I didn't send the tapes out to you first. I wanted to see if I was actually goint to receive the tapes after I saw the information that made me suspicious in the first place. I also told you that numerous times and I never got a reply. What was I suppose to think? Then it all shifted into a matter with the Post Office. I called your post office and the number you supplied me with was a residence. The man who answered the phone was kind enough to supply me with the correct phone number. It never left your post office. You know, it's not too late to correct this. I did all that I could do and I still have your side of the deal. I told you in those e-mails that I have been scammed before and when I see something suspicious, I want to make sure that my part of the bargain will be delivered. I am sorry that it came to this post. I never made this post, but I sympathize & understand fully what the creator had in mind. If you want to work with me on this problem, I am offering a chance to correct this. You know my e-mail address.

Actually to enforce my credibility, I buy and sell on e-bay. My username is RCVK7, so if people are suspicious, they can check me out on there, but I know what you mean. Some people, the worst being rummi@sunbeach.net was the biggest con-artist I ever had. He sold a Married With Children script and my younger brother wanted it. He claimed that he never received a money order (after it was proven that he cashed the money order) and it was getting ugly. I compiled a file with all the evidence, noticed that he used a fake address in his registration (that is why I was suspicious and didn't deliver to Mr. Bast, because I didn't want a "re-run" of that situation) and filed a complaint, but nothing happened. That really bit. Anyway, I know what you mean. There are some people that scam and it has nothing to do with simple misunderstandings.

I'm sorry about your brother. Ebay is exciting when you find a good item that you want and you don't get ripped off. However, when you have a bad experience it does kind of make Ebay pretty gloomy.

I've been an Ebay member for about 2 years. I've got some cool stuff, and I've had some pretty good transactions. I've only had one really bad transaction. It was like pulling teeth to get the seller to send me my pic.

Unfortunately, I had to get an attitude with the seller towards the end. I don't want people to think I've got an attitude problem. I was very nice towards the seller to start with. It wasn't like I brought out the attitude in the first email. After about 2 1/2 months of waiting, I finally had to get bitchy. Of course, the seller got an attitude back towards me. Finally, the seller realized his error and that I had sent him a money order and he hadn't sent me my pic. He apologized and sent me my pic. That seller was the only neutral feedback that I ever left.

Mr. Case:

1. I am not a con-artist. My birthday is NOT 1901, true. I put that there, though, as a "gag" that I was playing, and never changed it back. I think, though, that this is not enough grounds for calling ME a con-artist.

2. Look at 5,000 other posters here at SO... the "Location" field has turned into a thing to play around with. Loosen up a bit; not everyone is as "sensitive" as you are about all this.

3. THE POST OFFICE LOST YOUR PACKAGE! I GAVE YOU THE DELIVERY CONFIRMATION NUMBER! I REQUESTED ASEARCH FOR THAT PACKAGE; THEY NEVER FOUND IT. I DID ALL THAT ICOULD IN MY POWER TO FIND THAT PACKAGE, AND I EXPLAINED TO YOU THE SITUATION. YOU WERE VERY COOPERATIVE; I TRUSTED YOU AND I ALSO HAD A HIGH RESPECT FOR YOU. HOWEVER, YOU CHOSE TO SLANDER ME ON THESE MESSAGE BOARDS WITHOUT TELLING THE WHOLE STORY. THATIS WHY I WAS SHOCKED TO READ YOUR POST, PROCLAIMING ME AS A CON-ARTIST. E-MAIL ME IF YOU WANT ME TO REPLACE WHAT THE POST OFFICE LOST, BUT I CANNOT GUARANTEE A REPLACEMENT... I DON'T KNOW IF I TRUST YOU.

4. The correct phone number WAS (334) 774-9998... did you ever consider the fact that you might have dialed the wrong number? I e-mailed TVJunkie the phone number, and he said he got a voice-mail for... guess where... come on... guess... THE OZARK, ALABAMA POST OFFICE!

5. The postoffice gave me a report after your last e-mail... I thought everything was all right and the trade was canceled... I guess you're still harping over the past though. It was lost. I never e-mailed you back because of the fact that I thought that you would be too busy doing other trades, instead of calling people con-artists without reasonable cause like you did.

People of the Board:

I am a respected trader. I have traded since June, and I never intend to rip anyone off. My true MB friends are sticking by me. Just goes to show you that there are people who need to let the past go, like Mr. Rob W. Case. I ask that you trust me; I will do the best job I possibly can. I am not even sure I want anything to do with "RWCTV", since he has called me a con-artist. The website, www.dictionary.com, defines "con-artist" as:

n : a swindler who exploits the confidence of his victim [syn: confidence man, con man]
Source: WordNet ® 1.6, © 1997 Princeton University

I did not, in any way, exploit Mr. Case's confidence. If he wants to resort to "mud-slinging", as he has already started doing, I will not have any part of it. I will only tell the truth.

I am better than Mr. Case.

P.S.--- My real birthdate is May 8, 1987. If you want my birth certificate, Mr.Case, check in Fort Jackson, South Carolina...

Yes, I did get a voice mail for the post office. I'm going to stay out of this from here on out, but Eric is a great trader, and the quality on the tapes were great and he was fast about getting the tapes out. I encourage anyone who tape trades to see for themselves how reliable a person is. I've been trading (regularly) since February, and from this board, or anywhere for that matter, have not once been ripped off.

Mr Bast,
I never targeted you specifically as a con-artist. I said that I hate con-artists like that, talkling to the person who was purposefully ripped off. Then I talked about my trading experience with you as an experience and not "mudslinging".

When I called the phone number I was shocked when I received a residence. I repeated the number to the person asking if that was the number to the Post Office and he said that it wasn't the number of the Post Office. It was the number of a residence, and he offered me the real number to the Post Office.

When I had a bad experience with someone else who "goofed around" with their location and other information, my brother and me were both taken advantage of and it took a lot of time and anger to fight for what was suppose to belong to us. After being taken, and not just by rummi, I am not as easy going when it comes to stuff like this. I can take a good joke, but when it is on vital information, my caution takes over from there.

Anyway, it was not my idea to bring this post the controversy that it is now plauged with.

Take Care

Clowning around with vital information? This is an online message board, not an FBI computer! I just have to say something: I am not fighting with a non-existent human-being anymore. (If you want to know what "non-existent" means, check out your birthdate, "N/A")

If you would like to resolve this, fine. E-mail me if you wish to do so.

May I offer a suggestion? Well, I can understand the whole business about the post office losing stuff. That I can understand. However, if I were you (Sam M) I would just make another copy of whatever RWCTV wanted. If RWCTV paid you to make the tape, maybe you can refund half or all of the money. If you can correct the error that would be the best thing to do.
