If I have my facts straight, she’s a spinster, she has no children, and although her later love life was active, she never found anyone who wanted to marry her for legitimate reasons. She only gets a job in later episodes, which means that she had to be rather poor, and thus dependent upon Andy for her survival. Although later episodes and the sequel Mayberry RFD expand her role and interests, that takes place years after the series began and well after it was clear that Bea had a hard life up until that point.
Also, Aunt Bea was apparently celibate, but not by choice. While she’s shown having a number of suitors, she clearly does not have the necessary privacy to entertain “gentleman callers”. Even after she leaves the Taylor household and becomes a live-in housekeeper on Mayberry RFD, the sequel to the series, her “intimacy prospects” don’t improve. |

I'm not sure you want to start climbing the Taylor family tree looking for the Aunt Bea branch, it might be hazardous to your health. I remember Aunt Bea spoke once about all the children she helped raise, she raised Andy, then Opie, and then moved on to raise Mike (the son of Sam Jones). We don't know what happened to all the young mothers who should have been raising these children, but it sounds like something Jessica Fletcher should take a look at.

Aunt Bee almost married a Sea Captain (played by Will Geer) in the first season of Mayberry RFD. The captain was a legit suitor, but in the end decided to go back to the sea. It was a two-part episode. It would have been an ideal way to exit her from the series, because by that time she probably was wanting to leave. IIRC she missed a lot of season 2 before finally leaving at the end of the season.
I didn't know she raised Andy. As far as the young mothers go, supposedly both Andy Taylor and Sam Jones were widowers. |

She seemed very happy and fulfilled. She was an important, much loved part of many people's lives.
