"America's Most Wanted" Revival in the Works at Fox
"America’s Most Wanted" Revival with Global Reach in the Works at Fox
by Nellie Andreeva January 7, 2020 A signature Fox program may be making a return on the network. Fox Entertainment is developing "America’s Most Wanted", a new incarnation of the crime-fighting unscripted series, which aired on the broadcast network for a quarter century. The network is looking to make a pilot and is currently searching for a host, Fox Alternative president Rob Wade confirmed to Deadline during TCA. “It’s a great format, very Fox format,” he said Tuesday of AMW, which prompted the public to help track down fugitives. https://deadline.com/2020/01/america...sh-1202823779/ |

Although it's disappointing that John Walsh won't be back, I'm not terribly surprised. He's now 74 years old, and considering the nature of AMW, hosting the show was a very demanding job for him. He was 42 years old when AMW debuted in February 1988, and what you can deal with in your 40s or 50s you may not be able to deal with in your 60s and 70s. First-run cable true crime shows typically produce shorter seasons than primetime shows, with an average of 13 episodes per season, so his current show, Investigation Discovery's In Pursuit with John Walsh, doesn't produce as many episodes a year as AMW did. So, with that new series, it goes without saying that Walsh is now on a somewhat less rigorous work schedule than he was when he did AMW.
