“The idea is to have the brand grow in a way that feels organic and natural,” 9-1-1 co-creator Tim Minear said at the TV press tour, while promoting 9-1-1 Lone Star, when asked if he'd like to have a Law & Order-style franchise. He added: "We didn’t want to jump into a new iteration of 9-1-1 until we felt like we had something that was part of the universe but was unique and had something to say. And we sort of started with spectacle on 9-1-1, but on Lone Star, we felt like we’d earned the good graces of our audience, so we started from character and build to the cases … It feels different but it still feels like part of the same brand.” Rob Lowe credits his 9-1-1: Lone Star co-star Liv Tyler's dad Steven Tyler for helping him stay sober “I’ve been sober for 30 years,” he told reporters at the TV press tour. “When I first got sober, I thought, my life is sober. My fun is done, and I’m not going to be cool anymore. I came home when I was probably sober two or three weeks and I got a call from Steven Tyler, who I did not know. He called to say ‘I heard you are in recovery and I just wanted to say hey, I’m thinking of you dude.’ If it’s good enough for f*cking Steven Tyler, it’s good enough for me.” Don't expect a 9-1-1-9-1-1: Lone Star crossover anytime soon “We’ve talked about it but I’m not there yet,” says co-creator Tim Minear. “I’m interested in keeping both shows in their own lane. They complement each other. They’re very different.” |
