Default What are your favorite free streaming sites?

What I'm thinking of doing, starting next week, is, instead of focusing on one specific streaming site, which I have done with CTV Throwback for the past year, and recently with Tubi, I would like to use multiple free streaming sites and highlight their new releases and significant additions for 2020 whenever they come in. For this, I will use the JustWatch website as a guide for both Canadian and US new releases and I will concentrate on the following sites which I have chosen as personal favourites for now because of their many classic TV titles. The lucky group includes:

1. CTV Throwback - Canada's largest, and for now the best, free streaming site with many great shows like "Bewitched", "I Dream Of Jeannie", "The Partridge Family", and more recently "The Flying Nun". The problem is there's not enough of the older classics and too much shabby material like "Hawthorne", "Rake", and "The Boondocks" for me to now consider looking at a few alternatives like the ones that follow.

2. Crackle - CTV's US counterpart which receives much of its material from the great and large Columbia/Screen Gems/Sony library which includes the series mentioned above as well as all of Norman Lear's sitcoms. It also contains most of the same sorry excuses for recent "throwback" sitcoms that CTV has but I would still consider both to be very good.

3. TUBI TV - Third place and rising quickly. Last year at this time, I considered it to be nothing more than a bunch of kids shows and very awful movies (like "I Love You, Man"). But in the last 6 months, thanks to their acquisitions of many great series from the 1950s and 1960s, in particular "The Donna Reed Show" and "Make Room For Daddy"/"The Danny Thomas Show", they have assembled a very impressive comedy catalogue that is simply outstanding. I expect more great things from them in the year ahead which is why I'll be keeping a very close eye on them to see what's next. Their latest coup: The Bob Hope Show, the legendary comic's first TV variety series, before his highly-rated specials of the 1960s and 70s.

4. The Roku Channel - A streaming service that is hard to get unless you have the proper devices but worth it for the content it has. I still don't have it but I have heard good things from those who do and so I'm adding it to my list.

5. Hoopla - Items that are now mainly seen on TUBI that you can stream for free with your library card.

What other free sites do you like? Let me know and I'll check those out for you as well.

Pluto TV is fantastic. So many free channels, there's even a dedicated channel to just The Addams Family! Also love watching Buzzr on there as well.

I like the Internet Archive too and I often use it to watch my favorite shows and playlists online. The difference between that site and others like Tubi and Pluto is that it's user-generated rather than VOD so anyone can post anything there for others to watch and download just like YouTube and Dailymotion. One of my favorite Archive contributors has his own website which collects a number of classic series from these sites and posts them on his own site. It's called

Uncle Earl's Classic Television

It's like an encyclopedia of Classic TV that he updates every day and I will check those updates for you and add them to my streaming page. You can check them out for yourself as well right here:

Here are a few great playlists from the Archive that I know you will love. All series are complete:

McHale's Navy

Newhart - Seasons 1-4

Newhart - Seasons 5-8

Mary Tyler Moore Show

Rhoda

The Dick Van Dyke Show

Petticoat Junction - Seasons 1-4

Petticoat Junction - Seasons 5-7

Leave It To Beaver

The Monkees

The Flying Nun

Hogan's Heroes

AfterMash

Beverly Hillbillies - Seasons 1-5

Beverly Hillbillies - Seasons 6-9

Green Acres

Addams Family

Munsters

I'll have more when they come in and list them with the other providers: Tubi, CTV, etc.

My library gives me access to Hoopla and Kanopy. Hoopla seems to have better movies and they have a bigger variety of shows but currently I'm having trouble getting my information to work. Fortunately the library has been very helpful in doing what they can.

My library has Hoopla as well, but I don't think they have Kanopy.
